Of a woman named Selene

Her spirit died in Paris

But her man looked for her

On the vast skies he searched

Of a woman named Selene

-

Selene was his opium

Described a charlatan of sanity

Had she gone with Antares and Capella?

Or swam with Saturn in the east?

-

She was a whore, a lowly whore

But her red locks danced in the night breeze

Haven't I told her? He was looking, come home

Only to find she was nothing to believe in

-

And she was of seventh magnitude

Yet he loved her, until he lost everything

No, it wasn't Auriga's fault

It was her beauty who killed him

---------

A/N: I dedicate this to Selene, to Madame Auguste de Montpellier of Elizabeth Redfern's The Music of the Spheres. The book had a great ending. Thanks for sharing the story with me, lady Elizabeth.

*Antares and Capella are stars, Auriga is a constellation where Capella can be seen.
