Chapter 6

My heart was beating faster than normal as we pulled up to the front of my apartment complex. I've never been out with a guy that I liked this much and I was reluctant to leave.

"So I guess this is the end, but only for today." Blazes voice speaks out through the deafening silence of the car.

Coyly I retort, "And exactly how do you know I want to see you again?", though I knew it wasn't true, I wanted to see this man again. The attraction between us was undeniable and I sure as heck wasn't going to throw it away.

He leans toward me, the light from outside streaming through the window creating a golden haze around his face. Grabbing my chin he pushes it so his mouth is directly beside my ear.

"I don't know that you want to see me anymore but I can only hope you'll give me that chance." His minty breath tickles my neck and the collar of my coat, I quiver.

Sighing, I turn to him leaning closer to give him a kiss. He notices and a gleam appears in his eyes as his breath quickens. I wasn't even an inch away from his lips when I changed directions and placed a chaste kiss on his stubbly cheek.

His eyes snap open and I smile mischievously, "see you later." Was all said before grabbing the door handle with the intention of getting out. But no more than a second later was I sitting on Blazes lap, pressed against the steering wheel, straddling him. A wicked look filled his eyes before trailing kisses up my neck.

"That's not a proper kiss", he mumbles against my neck, the vibrations making me gasp. He continues the onslaught of kisses to my neck, slowly trailing up to my cheek. I couldn't take it anymore as I grabbed his face I brought his lips to my own letting the passion take over me. He hastily responded pressing me closer to the steering wheel, his tongue swiping my bottom lip but I refused, I would make him suffer. When he realised what I was doing he let out a growl deep from his chest and started to ravage my mouth.

He pulls back, panting, whimpering against my lips, "Please". The longing in his voice pulled at my heartstrings, nodding I place my lips back on his, slowly letting him explore my mouth.

Suddenly a car horn goes off; startled we both jump and end up bumping each other's foreheads. Laughing I realize that Blaze had been pressing me too far into the steering wheel, making my elbow hit the horn. Blaze looks dazed and confused before putting two and two together. He lets out a roar of a laugh, nearly falling out of his seat, which was a little awkward as I was sitting on his lap. Eventually when we could calm ourselves we arranged ourselves, me back over in my own chair. We stared at each other, neither of us wanting to break this perfect moment. A quick glance to the cars stereo showed it was just about five in the evening.

"Crap, Blaze I'm so sorry I have to go to the animal shelter, I volunteer there and I'm going to be late!" I really didn't want to leave but I have previous engagements, I loved helping out there. But sometimes the poor animals that come in there are really beat up, and I can't help but sympathize them, I knew what it was like to be so beat you can barely stand.

"I can drive you there if you want, on the way up there we can discuss are next date." He says wriggling hiss eye brows. Giggling I jump out of the car to go grab my allergy medicine and some treats that are always in my apartment for any stray I can find.

When I get back I see Blaze frowning with his phone to his ear, worried I hurry to the car. He puts his phone away just as I open the door. Frowning myself I ask what's wrong.

"My brothers been in an accident and he's at the hospital." Blazes gaze turns sorrowful.

"Well what are we doing just sitting here for let's go!" I shout just as worried for his little brother, Clay.

"But what about the animal shelter, Artemis?" he questions.

"Obviously you need me more right now; I go every other day I'm sure I can just go tomorrow." I say with conviction. He gives me a sad smile.

"You really are perfect, I don't know what would've happened if I hadn't met you. Clay is the only real family that I have, I don't know what I would do without him."
