Knowing what the these poor people had been through, selfish people around the world were worrying that their jobs would be taken by immigrants.

If nobody wanted those jobs at least let people that need jobs have them so that they can start a life here and feed their families.
But no these people believe their jobs will be taken by imigrants and refuse to welcome them into their country open heartedly.
"I thought- when it comes to crisis people would at least have a heart to sympathise...
