Beginning of Year Five

Crystalline's P.O.V.

October thirteenth. The day all my suffering will end.

And there will be nobody to stop me.

I slowly get out of my bed. I make my way to the bathroom. I don't even glance at the mirror. I take a quick shower and get dressed. I want to look my best for today's event. Nope, not a ball or a date. Not even a silly party. It's my birthday. And I'm giving myself a present.

I change my hair color from navy blue to silver. Looks good enough.

I take my bookbag and throw it over my shoulder. I skip breakfast again and go to my first class.

Which is DADA with Umbridge. Let me just tell you, she is an absolute delight. Always annoyingly fake with her all-pink outfits and girly giggles. And the way she treats everyone... Let's not even go there.

When I walk into her classroom I realize that I'm extremely early. I take out my book, parchment, quill and ink and neatly put them on my desk.

"Why aren't you early today, Miss Lane!" I hear the toad's high-pitched voice. "Have you had any breakfast?" she asks.

"Yes, Professor, I went to the Great Hall early. " I lie. I've been lying since Year two, when I made the mistake of telling the truth to a professor that I haven't eaten the entire day.

"Very well." Umbridge says.

I take out this muggle invention from my bookbag. It's called an IPod. You plug in this thing called earbuds in it and put them in your ears. Then you press a few buttons and music comes out of the earphones.

After what seems like an hour, a hand slams on my desk, spilling some of the ink on the floor. I look up and see the one and only Pug-face Parkinson. She has an evil smirk attached to her hideous face. I can see her lips moving but don't hear anything since the music is really loud.

I stop the music and take out the earbuds. "I'm sorry, Pug-face, what was that? The music prevented me from hearing your annoying voice." I say. Her face is red with anger. I hear people laughing.

"At least my hair isn't ugly." annd the smirk is back. "Unfortunately, your face just like your voice are permanent, unlike my hair." I state calmly and turned my hair color to dirty blonde. People around us 'ooohh '.

"You know what, Lane? As long as I'm not a freak who's parents abuse me, I'm fine." Parkinson walks away from me.

I feel the color drain from my face. I was definitely pale as a ghost. I quickly change my skin color back to normal. Luckily, no one notices. I know the Golden Trio heard and saw everything. There was no way they wouldn't tell my 'friends' Fred and George.

"Hi, Crystalline." a male voice says. I look up. Of course, it's Potter. Don't get me wrong, he's nice and all but it gets annoying how everyone always notices if he's not okay. It's annoying that people care just about him. And not me.

"Hey, Harry. How are you?" I ask, trying to sound like everything is super duper. "I'm good. And you?" he replied.

"Perfect." I say. Liar.
