Hey! Jynn here. Hopefully you guys liked the prologue of 'The Day We Never Met'! I haven't been writing in a long time, and I've been writing little by little. Please be patient with me, thank you!

"Catherine Mae Jones, you better get up now!"
I hate it when Mum yells in the morning.
"Uaghh," a half-gurgling, half-choking sound comes out my mouth.
"You've got half an hour to get ready before the bus arrives!" Mum yells up the stairs from the kitchen.
I roll onto my belly and push myself up. I walk to the bathroom and look at the mess I am in the mirror. After my late encounter last night, I didn't change and went straight to bed. My hair is in knots and tangles, my eyes still were red from studying yesterday. I quickly brush my teeth, wash my face, then hop into the shower. I rinse myself, flashing glances at the clock in my bathroom now and then.
I get out of the shower and wear a t-shirt and some comfortable Capri jeans. I head to my dressing table to dab on a bit of makeup and brush the tangly bush which is my hair. I then grab my book bag and hoodie and rush downstairs.
"Where were you last night?" Mum asks, a slightly annoyed look on her face.
"At Tasha's,"I say, with a straight face.
"Did you stay there until 11?"
"Um, no."
"Then can you explain to me why you got home so late?"
Ugh. I don't want to have to go through this again, coming back late last night and then continuing to study for an exam late at night really made me feel plain tired.
"It was raining and I had to take a bus back home at eleven last night,"I say, pouring some cereal into a bowl.
"You could have at least called me."
"My phone died."
"Couldn't you call from Tasha's?"
"I went off at around 10 and when I tried calling you my phone died," I grab some milk from inside the fridge and pour it into my bowl.
"We were really worried about you."
"Mom, I'm 16. I can take care of myself."
"That's what you think. You're still our little girl, you know." Mom looks at me. "I'm gonna go have a bath," she turns away and goes up the stairs.
