-Emma's POV-
"Storybrooke has made so many reforms and yet they couldn't install a car dealer ship?" I whine to myself out loud. I drove my small, rickety, yellow bug to the market to pick up some things for Regina and mine's date tonight. I was surprising her. She had had a long week at the office and was stressed, and even more so stressed since our new, youngest son was starting school in a few weeks. He was excited, yet Regina was a nervous wreck, but only showed me her worry. So I decided that tonight, I would try to take all of the stress off of her. I told her to wear something comfortable, and I would pick her up after work. I got home and entered the house to see Roland and my dad sitting at the TV, watching cartoons. I smiled and looked at the clock and saw that dad only had a few minutes to get home for mom. I smile and say, "Dad, you should go home and get ready. We both have dates tonight, remember?" I smirk at him as both Roland and Charming turn around. He looked at his watch and made a surprised face. "Oh I should. Bye buddy, it was great hanging out with you!" Charming says as he kisses Roland's head and lightly kisses my cheek, says his I love you's and leaves. I let Roland jump into my arm and he giggles. "Hi Emma!" He says and kisses my cheek. "Hey buddy, did you have fun with grandpa Charming?" I ask. He nods and giggles. I then look at the clock again. I had an hour to get mine and Regina's dinner together, drop Roland off at Ruby and Mulan's house, and get to mine and Regina's date spot to get everything together before I had to turn back to pick Regina up. I sigh and carry Roland into the kitchen and set him on the counter and stare at his dark brown eyes. They resembled Regina so fittingly. After Robin passed away, Regina and I had already been making advancements out of friendship, neither of us wanted to admit it, though. But after we did, we happily adopted Roland, but he had one condition. He didn't want to forget his real mom, so he didn't want to call us mom, but by nicknames. We agreed, and from there we've been a happy family.
"You wanna help me get Gina's dinner ready?" He smiles and nods quickly as I bring over the basket and he jumps off the counter to assess the fridge with me. We decide on sandwiches, chips, multiple desserts, and Roland's touch, apple juice boxes. I giggle and take them out of the basket and say, "No no buddy these are yours. Gina and I have our own special drink, remember?" Roland nodded but again asked what it was. I giggle softly and smile. "it's something you're not allowed to have until you're much older, okay kid?" I say. He pouts and I pout back at him and he breaks and laughs. "What's in the drink that I can't have?" He asks. I look back at him and say, "Vegetables." He gasps then gags. "Gross Emma! I never want a drink, not ever!" I laugh as I swoop the boy up again. "Good, cause you aren't allowed!" Roland always asked questions, to which Regina remarked was just like Henry. I put the wine and wine glasses into the basket and smiled, seeing I still had 50 minutes left. Roland closed the basket and kissed it. "I want Gina to have a kiss from her favorite little boy!" He exclaims. I laugh and say, "What about Henry?" Roland smiles and shrugs. "There's a new boy in town!" and winks. I laugh as I hug him and say, "Well Gina and I love both of our boys equally!" He smiles and nods as he looks at the basket. "Are ya ready to go kiddo?" "Yeah, let me just go grab my bag!" He says. He runs upstairs to get his backpack and soon races back down. While he does that I put a couple more things in the basket for Regina and I. "I'm ready! I got the blanket, and flowers for Gina and you too!" I smile as we walk outside and I open my trunk. "Thank you Roland. I'm sure she'll love them!" I exclaim. I close the trunk and help Roland into his car seat. I get into the drivers seat and soon drive to Ruby and Mulan's house.
Once there, Roland undoes his car seat and races to the door. "Aunt Ruby! Aunt Mulan!" He jumps into Mulan's arms as I laugh and get his bag out. "Sorry guys, he really missed you two." I say and shrug. "It's okay, we're excited to have him! We missed him too!" Ruby exclaims as she ruffles Rolands hair. I smile and thank Ruby and Mulan and say, "I better go get things ready for tonight, thank you again so much." I sigh and smile. "Anytime! Have fun! Be safe!" Mulan says. I kiss Roland's head and smile. "Bye buddy, I'll see you in the morning. I love you." "Bye Emma, I love you too! Have fun with Gina!" He exclaims and waves. "Will do buddy. Be good." I say as I wave to the three, then drive off to the spot where Regina and I would have our date.
It's past a small park that has running water through it, and it passes over some steps into a giant pool. Roland and Henry love to come here and play, and though Regina doesn't admit it, she does too. From there we'll walk up a little ways and sit on a huge rock, have dinner, and be able to perfectly watch the sunset. Watching the sun set is Regina's favorite thing to do. She always finds the most beauty in it, things I had never seen before. I set down the blanket and basket, and take out Roland's flowers he had picked for us. I lay down some candles to keep the blanket sturdy, and to keep the bugs away. I leave the basket there in the shade of the trees and look down to see the rush of water from the steps I just thought about. I smiled as I clapped my hands and ran to my car, and saw I had 10 minutes to get to Regina's office. I smile as I listen to my favorite song, CobraStyle, on the way to pick Regina up. I sit in front of the Mayors office until it's 5:30, to which I see Regina's light go out. A couple minutes later, she walks out in a pantsuit and blazer. I smile but huff as I get out of the car. "Babe, I told you to wear something comfortable!" "Well Ms. Swan, if I could have a moment to get changed into the clothes, that would be lovely." She says as she smirks and kisses my nose. I smile and watch her poof into a short sleeved white shirt, leggings, and flip flops. "I'm ready love!" She says and I smile as I open the passenger side door for her and sit into the drivers. I start driving to our spot and I hold Regina's hand that rested on her lap. "How was your day?" I ask and look over at her. "Oh, normal. Yours?" she asks. I bite my lip and nod. "It was good." "How was Roland's? Did he have fun with Charming?" I smile and nod. "yeah. I walked in and they were watching Cartoons." Regina smiles and I look back at her and see she had pulled her brown hair back. I stare that I almost forget to park. I snap back to the road and grip the wheel. I park the car and get out to get Regina's door. I open it and smile at her as I kiss her cheek. "Oh the water steps!" She says happily. "I know it's one of your favorite places." I say as we link hands and take off our shoes to walk the water steps. Regina giggles as she splashes a bit in the water, her inner-child coming out. I look at my watch and see 20 minutes have passed. "You ready for the second part of our date?" I ask. She looks at me with raised eyebrows and smirks. "Second?" "Yeah, I planned it, so I'm sure there's a second part." I say and wink.
We walk up the small trail to the rock where our candles, flowers, and basket wait. "Oh Emma." She breaths. "It's beautiful. I love it!" She exclaims as she squeezes my hand lightly. "Well, lets eat! I'm starving! Roland picked the flowers and helped get the food together, hence why there's so many desserts." I say and giggle. She smiles and sniffs the flowers. She grabs a PB&J sandwich as I pour our wine and she smiles and takes a sip. "You know, if you need a break at the office, you can hire help?" I ask. "Oh, and who?" "Well, Neal is looking for a job, he's only 16 but he's great at helping and everything." I say and take a bite of the other sandwich. "So was this date to bribe me to hire your brother?" She asks and smiles. I smile back and nod. "Totally. I totally didn't want to do anything special for my wonderful girlfriend." I say and finish the sandwich. She laughs and grabs a bag of Cheetos. "I do need some help. Although Tink is there, there's housecleaning things that need to be done. So, I'll look into it." She says and smiles. "Thank you baby." I say as I take another sip of wine. We sit in silence for a minute and listen to the birds and waves. Then Regina pulls out two chocolate cupcakes. She hands me one and I smile as I take a bite of it. Regina snuggles in close to me as we watch the sun set. "You know what I see tonight?" She asks. "What?" "You." I look down at her and she looks up at me and smiles. "Your golden hair is the yellow, the pink is your skin when you've been out playing with Roland too long, the purple is your favorite color. It's all you. All of the beauty in the world is you, Emma." She says and holds her hand in mine. "Thank you Regina. I love you." I say and kiss her lips. "I love you." She says between kisses. "We should get home now, it's cloudy so we cant see the stars." She says and huffs. "It's okay babe." I say as we start getting things together to take to my car. Once there, Regina pushes me against the car and kisses me passionately. "I'll give you something tonight in return." She says and we giggle as we get into my small, rickety yellow bug and drive home.
