Chapter 1.

Hey everybody. I decided to write a fanfic about Seth. This is my first fan fiction, so I hope you like it. My spelling might not be great because I'm dutch. So if you see any mistakes or have ideas, please let me know. Also I dedicate this story to @fernandaNYC because you've helped me to get started on this storie. Couldn't done this without you! Enjoy!

"Have you packed everything?" My mother asked me. "Yes mom, I have. And no, I didn't forget anything!" I added quickly before she could speak.

My mother is the type who is always stressed out when it comes to traveling. Even though she is not even the one who goes away this time.

"I just want to help you sweetheart. It does not happen every day that my daughter is going to the other side of the world for a whole year." She said with a worried face. "I know mom, you're right." I said as I gave her a kiss on the cheek. I know she wants the best for me.
"Have you had any contact with Emma the past few days?" She asked me.

Emma is my moms best friend. She is a photographer. A few years ago she was discovered by an american magazine and she was offered a job. She took the job en then moved to Los Angeles. Since she left The Netherlands we have a lot of contact with her. I consider her like family.

"Speak of the devil." I said as my phone rang and Emma's name appeared on screen. I walked into my room while I answered the phone.

"Hey nikki!" She trailed off. " Are you ready to come to California?"

"You bet your sweet ass I am!" I said with a smile on my face. "Everything is packed and I can't wait to get on that plane in a few hours."

"That's good to hear." Emma said. "You're going to love it here."

A few months ago, Mark and I broke up after a long relationship. We had grown apart. I came back to live with my parents again, until I had found a place for myself. Even though I was the one who put an end to it, I was devastated. So one night when my mother was on skype with Emma, she told her what had happened between Mark and me and that I wasn't doing so well. Emma then came up with the idea that it might be good for me to take a break and that I was more than welcome to come over and live with her for a while. When my parents suggest the idea to me I was so happy that I immediately started to cry. After all the misery of the past few months, this was the best thing that could happen to me.

"I know I'm going to appreciate the sunny weather anyway." I replied.

"That I know for sure." Emma chuckled. "I called to tell you that I might not make it tomorrow to pick you up from the airport. I'm doing a photoshoot tomorrow and then a meeting. And that will probably take longer than I want. I'm so sorry!" Emma said.

"Don't be sorry." I trailed off. " I'll be fine. I can call a cab and .."

"That's not necessary." She interrupted me. "A good friend of mine is going to pick you up tomorrow."

"That's very sweet, but I don't want to be a burden." I said. "Really, I'm fine with taking a cab."

"Oh don't be silly." Emma began. I heard some noises in the background. And all of a sudden I heard a man's voice on the other end of the phone.

"You're not a burden Nikki. Emma told me a lot about you and she can not wait to see you." He said.

"Good things I hope?" I chuckled. I couldn't help it, but his voice sounded familiar.

"Don't worry. I've only heard good things about you. And I don't mind picking you up tomorrow." He added.

"Really?" I asked.

"Really really. It will be nice to meet you." He said. " I'll see you tomorrow."

"Thank you! It will be nice to meet you to. See you tomorrow." I said laughing.

"You're welcome." He said before he gave the phone back to Emma.

"I told you so." Emma chuckled. "When I'm done working tomorrow I'm coming home as soon as possible. In the meantime, make yourself at home."

"Thank you so much Emma. I can't wait to see you again." I said.

"You're welcome sweetie. Have a safe flight. Make sure you get some sleep on the plane and say hello to you're parents for me." Emma said.

"Will do." I replied. " See you tomorrow."

When I hung up the phone I sigh deeply. In a few hours I would be in California. I couldn't believe it finally happened. Of course I would really miss my family, but I really needed this. I wanted to get away from everything and everyone to take time for myself. I wanted to start with a clean slate.

.....

After an emotional goodbye to my family, I was on the plane to Los Angeles. My parents and younger sister had brought me to the airport. My mother embraced me tightly and told me to take good care of myself. I kissed her cheek and told her that I loved her. Then I turned to my dad and gave him a long big hug. "Promise me you'll be careful?" He whispered in my ear. "I promise." I said with tears in my eyes. "Take all the time you need and enjoy your time in LA, but will you let you're old dad know how you are doing every once in a while?" He said with a wink. "Oh dad, of course I will do that!" I said as a tear escaped my eye. I hugged him again. "My turn." My sister said as she flung her arms around me. "I'm so jealous of you!" She said as we pulled apart. "Maybe you can come to LA for a few weeks when you have summer vacation?" I said with a wink. "I would love that." She smiled. "And who knows .. maybe you will find a handsome guy while you're there." She said with a grin. "I doubt that." I giggled. I gave all three of them a big hug and kisses and then it was time to go on the plane.

Once I was up in the air I tried to get some sleep like Emma told me to. But that did not work out. I was too excited. So instead of sleeping I listened to a few playlists on spotify, watched a couple of movies on netflix and finally my eyes felt heavy. I put my laptop in my bag and within a few minutes I was out like a light.

Suddenly I woke up because someone tapped my shoulder. I shot straight up in my chair.

"I'm sorry I have to wake you up but the plane will land soon and I have to ask you to put your seat belt on." A friendly stewardess said to me.

"Yeah, of course." I said as I sat up and grabbed my phone. At least I had slept a few hours.

When the plane landed on LAX I didn't have to wait long for my suitcases. I walked through the terminal when I heard a voice behind me. "You must be Nikki." It was the same (familiar) voice I heard on the phonecall with Emma the day before. I turned around and immediately my whole body froze. OH. MY. GOD. This HAS to be a joke! THIS is one of Emma's friends?!

"Hi, I'm Seth MacFarlane." He smiled warmly. "Nice to finally meet you." He extended his hand to me. After a few seconds I shook his hand. "Hi, I, I'm Nikki Smith. Nice to meet you to." He must have seen the confusion on my face because an amusing smile appeared on his face. "Don't believe everything they say on the Internet." He began. "I'm sorry .. what?" I asked not knowing where he was going. "My driving skills are not as bad as they say." He added with a wink. "I didn't say it was." I laughed nervously. He really was even more handsome in person than I'd seen him on TV and photos. "Here, let me take that." He said with his gaze on my suitcases. When he took them from me, our hands touched for a brief moment. "Thank you." I said softly, trying to avoid eye contact. "Ready to go to Emma's house?" He asked. "I guess I am." I said, still a bit nervous. "you'll be fine." He said as he put on his sunglasses. While we walked to the exit of the airport, all I could think of was how weard this situation was.
