The few stars brave enough to face the morning light were shining. Those who weren't brave faded away minutes ago, tempted to carry on. They illuminated the land beneath them, making moonflowers grow and grass shine. What was to come on this sacred ground was the complete opposite of the stars. Grace and beauty was to be met with death and darkness.
The sun was rising, bathing all things in its warming light. Almost all of the land was cast into a warm, orange hue that made the world as a whole seem more optimistic. Now the moonflowers shriveled away and morning glories embraced the light.
Two peaks stood on either edge of the valley. A young woman in silver armor stood on the left peak, and an older lady in a dark cloak on the other. Behind both stood an army of soldiers, friends, and traitors. All knew their purpose and cause as they marched behind their leader, few daring to venture onto the battlefield yet. Even though the fight hadn't started yet, all were wary of their position.
"Stop this," said the older woman. "Stop this madness so we can all be content with our lives again. Stop this so we can be family again."
On the opposing peak, the armored woman spoke. "We both know you only tell lies," she said with her bold, confident tone. "Even if I do choose to stop this, you'll only cause more suffering. We were never a family in the first place." The cloak on the older woman's shoulders blew around in the light morning breeze. "Suit yourself. I was willing to negotiate, but I see now that's not an option for someone as stubborn as you, Rapunzel."
The armored woman flinched at the sound of her own name. "You are no longer fit to call me that name. Only those closest to me have that right." After this statement, the older woman's nostrils flared. She pulled a small, pearlescent horn from her cloak and blew into it. This day would go down in history as one of the greatest and darkest moves ever made. The sound of this horn marked the sound of disagreement, dominance, and distrust.
It marked the sound of war.
