Rome wasn't built in a day
As neither was the wall.
Brick by brick, stone by stone
All alone. I had to moan.
Like still concrete
Strong and grey
On the inside
Breaking away
And the bricks were blue
But painted orange
Underlying they turned to green
and softly faded to black...
The bricks became black
and slowly broke apart
Cascaded quickly
From light to dark
And it was no use mending it
As it was beyong repair
It was so frustrating
To see my wall of despair.
