Something was wrong. That was the first thing that went through Riley's head, as she opened the front door. the scent of blood was strong in the air, and she had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.
With shaking hands, she walked through the hall. The house was in darkness making it impossible to see anything, but she still had her ears.
Listening intently she walked through the house, ignoring the growing feeling of dread in her gut. The silence was killing her and the scent of blood, so strong she was choking on it.
Slowly she opened the door to the living room, only to be meet with a gruesome sight. her parents were lying there in a pool of their blood. Dead. Slaughtered. MURDERED.
She let out a scream of horror, backpedalling as she tried to escape the terrible scene. she sprinted through the houses until she got outside, and she just kept running.
Some little voice in the rational part of her head told her she was panicking, and should call someone, but she was beyond ration. She had to keep moving.
Moving, no running was the easiest thing to do right now. She felt that if she stopped she would go crazy.
But finally, after an hour, she could run no more. And when she couldn't run any further she stopped and screamed.
