My hands were red. They were... sticky. I couldn't identify the substance. I.. I.. I heard something too. Sirens. They weren't that loud. Off in the distance somewhere. I stood up. Looked around. Where was I? Was this my house? How come I couldn't recognize anything? I looked around a bit more, and found an open door. I walked inside. It was a bathroom. I stared at the person in the mirror. Was this me? My face was bruised and battered. A few of my teeth seemed to be missing as-well. My hair was long and ragged. What the hell was going on? Why couldn't I remember? I figured I needed to clean up a bit so I stepped into the shower.
The water was cold. It didn't feel very pleasant against my skin. The cold drops like my horrid sins smashing against the wall of my conscience. Of course I couldn't remember any of those. I just felt... terrible. I got out of the shower. My hair and body somewhat clean. I walked around the room a bit more. I found a dresser and pulled a shirt out. I put it on and sat down on the sofa in the middle of the room. I could tell they were getting louder. The sirens were slowly getting closer. I couldn't think of why the sirens were getting louder. They were just background noise to me.
I began pacing around the house. Checking what was behind each door. There weren't very many, seeing as this was a small house. Some doors had food behind them. Others, more clothes. Why did this all feel so unfamiliar to me? If this was my house, why didn't I feel at home? Why couldn't I recognize any of the paintings on the walls? The sirens were getting even louder now. My thoughts were starting to cloud over. I could see red and blue lights flashing in my mind. I didn't know what it meant. I felt something running down my neck. I quickly touched my fingers to the liquid. I retracted my hand and looked at it. It was the red substance I had found on my hand when I woke up. Suddenly I realized what it was. Blood. My head was gushing blood. I now realized how badly my head was hurting. How had I just now started to feel this pain?
I went back to the spot I woke up in, and there, on the floor was a woman's body. Next to it, a brick. The brick was covered in blood. Something told me that some of the blood on the brick belonged to me. A strange feeling began creeping over me. It was panic. My pulse began to quicken. I went back into the bathroom. I could still feel the warm blood dripping down my neck. I looked around for a minute, and found a small door on the right-hand side of the wall. I opened it and found a few towels. I grabbed one and wrapped it around my head. I could feel my shirt sticking to my back. I could just imagine the red blood that had been dripping down my neck turning my once white shirt a sickening reddish brownish color.
The sirens were louder. Even louder than before. I exited the bathroom and again began pacing around the house. What had happened? Why couldn't I remember? What the hell was going on? I approached a window on the far-side of the house. Opposite to where I had woken up. The glass was shattered. I peered out and looked down. There on the pavement below was the body of a man. His blood splattered all over the concrete. Someone had pushed him. I could tell... In the distance I could see something red. Then blue. Then red again. Something... something(s), were getting closer to me. They must have been the lights I had seen in my head. I began to feel dizzy. My vision started blurring. The lose of blood was probably the cause of this. I knew I would die soon if I didn't get help. I ran into the kitchen to searched for a phone. I needed to call... to call... I couldn't remember the number. What number was I supposed to call again? I was loosing my mind.
I unwrapped the towel that was around my head. I stared at it. Its once pink color was now completely gone. There instead, was the horrid crimson color of my blood. I threw the towel across the room. I ran my fingers through my hair. There they go again. The sirens were now even louder, and yet I still hadn't figured it out. I stood up my head spinning so fast everything looked like a blur. I stumbled back over to the woman's body. I knelt down and rolled her over. Her face was completely smashed in. My stomach clenched up. I bent over and vomited. The site of the woman's body was just too painful. Too gory, to look at. I stood back up again and wiped my mouth with my arm. I began pacing again. Just walking back and forth. Trying to think. I couldn't grasp my thoughts. I couldn't clear my head. I looked down. My pants were covered in blood. I reached down and touched one of the splatters. The blood was dry. I thought I had changed pants. I guess I had forgotten. Instinctively I reached into my pocket. My fingers came in contact with something metal. I gripped it and pulled it out. I stared at it for a good long minute. It was a gun. Why did I have this in my pocket? I don't remember buying a gun. What the hell had I done?
I walked back into the room I woke up in. I sat down on the sofa. My hands on my ears. I could hear voices. Whispers in my head. I couldn't understand what they were saying. What was wrong with me? What had I done? I stood up, my hands covering my ears. I shouted something. I don't know what. The sirens were now closer and louder than they had ever been before. They began drowning out the whispers. I was loosing my mind. My sanity slipping away.
I could taste something in my mouth. I spit. There on the floor was a small pool of blood. I was bleeding from my mouth now. My stomach burned, my head ached and blood just kept pouring out of my mouth and gushing from my head. The red and blue lights were outside now. The sirens now so loud I couldn't even hear myself think. I heard a crash come from the other side of the room. I turned around and there, standing in the doorway of my...this house were several men with guns, all pointed at me. I felt something hit my body. Then another. Then another. My mind went black. My vision dark. My body began tilting. Everything felt as if it were moving in slow motion. My body hit the ground with a huge thud. Something clanked behind me. It was my gun. I thought I had dropped it earlier. I heard sirens. They still seemed to be getting louder. Louder, louder. Suddenly they stopped. Silence surrounded me. My mind finally at peace. It was all finally over...
