Marie is a poor girl who had to fight to survive. She lost her parents in a car crash when she was sixteen and her sister, Jessica, age eighteen, had to take car of her. They ended up in poverty and lost everything. Luckily, Marie does archery and gets better and better each day. She eventually became a master at aiming the arrows at her target; she uses this to hunt and to eat what she manages to catch. She can't just use that for survival though. She needs to steal. Yes, steal. She robs places for things like clothes, and blanket, and food, for her to stay alive. One day she gets caught stealing, and is chased. She eventually gets caught and is brought to jail to die there, for they have figured out that she's stolen more than that. She thought her life couldn't get worse, but then the unexpected happens. An apocalypse. Marie is accompanied by a police officer, Niall, to help keep each other alive.
