I walk down the halls of my high school like I would every other day just to get to my next class. Shoving past crowds of students who just didn't care, I finally managed to reach my class as soon as the bell had rung. I stumbled in and sat down.

"Ms. Greex, make sure you're here on time next time." My teacher scolded me.

I didn't even bother to argue. I had arrived on time, just not when she wanted me to.

I was glad my seat was in the back of the classroom. Students who sat in the front were usually picked on by the teacher more often and would usually end up with enough spit on their faces by the end of the class to fill a water bottle.

"Okay, students take out your textbooks and turn to page 325 and begin to read the second paragraph. When you're done, answer the questions on page 327." She began. Then the door opened and, just like every time the door opens, every student turned their head to the door. Except for me, of course. I don't understand why students always do that.. Like, is the person who walks in the door that important to them? Why does it matter? My thoughts were soon interrupted when someone sat next to me and loudly smacked on whatever was in their mouth. I assumed it was gum because almost every teenager chews gum in class.

"Did your parents ever teach you to chew with your mouth closed?" I asked, not bothering to look at the person. The person didn't respond; they just kept chewing on their gum as loud as before.

"Seriously, can you not chew so loud? I'm not asking you to stop chewing I'm just asking you to chew with your mouth shut like a normal human being." I said again, this time more annoyed than before. Once again, they began to chew louder. I turned to face them and was surprised by how close we were. This person wasn't chewing louder, it just seemed to have gotten louder because of how close they got every time I asked them to stop. I looked at the person and realized it was Zane Dynx, the schools most popular boy. He wasn't a bad boy and he wasn't a goody-two shoes either.

He smirked at me, "Like what you see?"

"I've seen better in my garbage can." I rolled my eyes.

Liar! You know you wanted to keep looking!

"Sure you have Sugar." He laughed and pulled out his textbook. "What page are we on?"

"If you would've showed up to class on time you'd know now wouldn't you?" I replied.

"Feisty aren't you Sugar?" He said and moved my arm to look at the page number. "325, thanks."

We didn't talk for the rest of the class and when I heard that bell ring, I bolted out. I didn't want to stay any longer in that class with Zane. I plugged my ear buds in and listened to Twenty One Pilots as I walked home, rocking out to Tear in my Heart.

"You fell asleep in my car I drove the whole time. But that's ok Ill just avoid the holes so you sleep fine." I sang along quietly.

"I'm driving here I sit, cursing my government for not using my taxes to fill holes with more cement." Someone sang along, off key.

I jumped and turned around to see Zane smirking.

"Good song. I didn't think someone like you had such great taste in music, Sugar." His smirk was as cocky as ever.

"Why are you following me ass-wipe?" I turned away from him and kept walking.

"As much as I'd love to follow you all day, I'm actually walking to my moms friend's house to pick something up."

"Okay, well.." I wasn't sure what to say. So instead I stopped and looked at his appearance. He was wearing a white V-neck that hugged this muscles. They weren't big muscles, but big enough to make a girl swoon over him. He was also wearing khaki shorts and his brown hair was messy on the top of his head. I couldn't help but eye him up and down a few more times.

"Sugar, do you just want to take a picture?" He winked at me.

"No thanks." I smiled a cheeky smile and walked a few more feet up to my house. I unlocked the door and turned to see if Zane was still there and, sure enough, he was.

"Can I help you?" I asked with a laugh at the end.

"You live here?" He asked, shocked.

I understand why he was shocked. I came from a rich family. Our house wasn't a mansion but it was big with six bedrooms and three bathrooms.

"Yes, I do. Any reason you're still here?"

"Zane!" I heard my mother squeal.

"Hi Margret." He smiled at my mom.

"Am I missing something here?" I asked, obviously confused.

"Alex, Zane is Ms. Jamison's son. The boy I wanted you to meet." She smiled at me and turned to Zane. "Here's what your mom asked for. Don't lose it." My mom handed him a small white envelope.

"Thank you ma'am. See you at school Sugar." Zane winked at me.

My mom looked at me shocked before walking up to me.

"I want all the details Alex." She laughed.

"There's nothing between ass-hat and I mom." I rolled my eyes and gave a slight chuckle.

"Doesn't seem like that to me," She mumbled. "Oh, your father bought a bunch of new crap today dear."

"Greaaaat," I said with exaggeration and walked upstairs to my room. I shut the door behind me and sighed as I slid down the door. Why did my mom want me to meet Zane in the first place. There's nothing too special about him.

Face it, Alex, he's totally hot!

Okay, maybe he is. But there has to be another reason.

"Mom!" I shouted and stood up. She opened my door.

"Yes dear?" She asked.

"Why did you want me to meet Zane exactly?"

"Dear, he's hot and I'd like you to date him eventually. It would be great of you. That would eventually lead to marriage and that would help him and his family out a lot."

My jaw dropped, "Mom, I'm not going to date a guy I just met! Are you insane?"

"I didn't say now did I?" She crossed her arms in a subtle way, "Hun, I just want you to get to know him. Once you get past his arrogance and cockiness you'll see what a great guy he is and I know it." She smiled and walked away, closing my door behind her.
