Wonderbolt Love

Recruits

Rainbow Dash, Lightning Dust, Cloud Burner, Cloud Chaser, Flitter, Thunderlane, Bulk Biceps, Derpy Hooves, Electric Blaze, Flower Lilly, Twister, Hurricane Storm, Arctic blast, Speedy Winds and the Griffon, Maso, were lined up, awaiting the arrival of Spitfire, Captain of the Wonderbolts and her Co- Captain Soarin Skies.
Rainbow looked over the rest of the recruits. Her only competition were on both sides of her. Lightning Dust to the left and Maso to the right.
They were competing for spots in the to-be-formed recruit squad Foxtrot, the sixth Wonderbolt recruit squad which had been disbanded nearly 70 years earlier due to the Members moving through the ranks or leaving. There were five spots up for grabs, and fifteen ponies (well, fourteen and a griffon!) trying out.
All the recruits stiffened as Spitfire and Soarin landed at the end of the runway.
Rainbow noticed Arctic Blast and Lightning Dust swooning over Soarin. She smirked. No one other than her and Soarin knew about their relationship. It was supposed to be strictly professional but, instead, they fell head over hooves in love with each other and Dash became a pranking buddy to Fleetfoot, Blaze and Suprise around compound whenever she visited as an Element of Harmony.
Spitfire and Soarin were stood in a painted circle on the runway.
'ATTENTION RECRUITS!' Spitfire shouted.
Every Pony looked straight ahead and saluted
'You all know why you're here! You're fifteen of the best recruits we have had at the academy in decades and that is why five of you will be forming the new advanced recruit squad Foxtrot!'

Rainbow Dash's POV

Lightning Dust leans in towards me slightly and tells me she's going to be captain of the squad and how Soarin will fall in love with her and they'll get married. I ignore the rest of what she says and mentally drown it out with laughter. Oh! If only she knew- the look on her and Arctic Blasts faces would be priceless!
My attention is drawn to my coltfriend, Soarin, as he begins to talk.
'This is the final test, the last day of the competition! You must complete this obstacle course from my personal collection in the fastest time possible! The quickest times from each race will make the squad and the overall winner will become captain of squad Foxtrot! You will be racing in threes! Good luck- and may the best fliers win!'

We watch the first four groups race. The squad so far is:

'THIS IS A FOALS BOOK DASHIE!!' Pinkie pie telepathically shouts
Sherbet. Yeah, Sherbet.The arrogant little Sherbet who is in love with MY stallion!! And Arctic Blast the other arrogant mare, who's even more in love  with Soarin. She's also moany, whiny and overall annoying! She's also tried to make me fail the previous tests by knocking me out of the sky or attempting to distract me so I get shouted at by Spitfire.

Soarin's POV
Dashie, Lightning Dust and Arctic Blast all trot up to the starting line.
'READY!' Spitfire yells
They all crouch down and I see Rain lick her lips
'SET'
The mares shimmy around until they are in a comfortable position to start. I see Lightning Dust and Arctic Blast giving me over flirtatious winks and 'bedroom eyes' ha! Slu-
'SOARIN!!'
Sorry Pinkie
*coughs* desperate mares. Otherwise known as prosies
'Soarin!'
What Pinkie? I didn't say the word!
'Hmmmmm.... Fine!'
Jeez she's crazy!!
'GO!' Spitfires signal sends me back into the present. Skittles has a lead over the other two due to their staring at me, but Lightning Dust soon catches up along with Arctic blast. They reach the first pendulum of the course, all three pass safely however Dashs better timing has given her another small lead, quickly closed by the other mares. Arctic and Lightning keep throwing glances my way and seem to be shouting at each other.
They reach a second pendulum and they all pass with no gap between them. Arctic and Lightning are still fighting over me, and Sherbet (Yet another nickname I give Dash) is concentrating as hard as she can. She HAS to win this race!
I check the scoreboard just as they enter a spiralling decent- three quarters of the course in.

I hear a scream and look at the course- LIGHTNING DUST KNOCKED ARCTIC BLAST OUT OF THE AIR! And she's falling towards the ground at an alarming rate- I look to Rainbow Dash, she heard the scream.... She's going to save Arctic Blast!! But she'll lose the race to Lightning Dust if she does!

Arctics POV

The world is spinning and I can't regain control- I'll kill Lightning for this!! I see a bright rainbow racing towards me and I feel a warm pony's arms around me.
'Ra-Rainbow- D-Dash, T-Th-Thank you,' I weakly say before blacking out

Rainbows POV
I don't care if I get kicked out- I'm chewing Lightning Dust out for this, I knew she was a cheater- but I never thought that she would stoop this low- Arctic blast maybe, but not Lightning!
I land and, holding Arctic tightly, perform a Sonic Blast-Off which leads me straight past Lightning, into a Rainboom on the home stretch.

I burn off speed and place Arctic down next to the compound Paramedic (Bliss) and turn around. Everyone is looking at me in shock. I look at the Scoreboard and I now know why. I have the overall highest time, saved somepony AND performed two specialist moves in TWO MINUTES FLAT!!

I walk up to Lightning dust with meaning.
'You here to gloat or something!?' She says towards me, dejected.
'No! I'm here to give you a piece of my mind!' I state ' How DARE you knock another flier out of the sky at high speeds like that!' Every word I say makes my anger boil more and more 'You KNEW, YOU KNEW you were going to hurt her! How could you not have known? You're experienced enough to know that a hit like that could KILL! Are you listening to me?! You could have KILLED A PONY! You could've been a MURDERER! You stupid, STUPID! Pegasus! Now I'm trying to save your flank from the Equestrian police, but if you don't remove your head from your ass soon, you WILL go down, and I WONT help you! Would you like to be arrested for attempted Murder?!' I scream
'Jeez Dashie, calm down!' Lightning's voice is too confident and starts to make me uncomfortable ' You're not an angel yourself!'
'Yeah? Well .... AT LEAST I DONT TRY AND FLIRT WITH OTHER MARES COLTFRIENDS!!!!' Tears begin to stream down my face
'What d'ya mean- the only guy I flirt with is Soar.... In ...... NO WAY!!!! You and Soarin' HA!!!!' She starts laughing and Soarin' walks towards us
'She's not joking Lightning Dust!' Soarin' says, somehow still calm about the situation. He wraps his wing around me.
'Huh?' She says, recovered from her laughing fit.
'I mean me and Dashie are an item, and you're Equestrias biggest IDIOT if you think I'd ever be interested in an over confident, braggy, whiny, bit'
'SOARIN'!!!!!!' Pinkie yelled
'I don't care Pinkie! Just star the words out!! Bi**hy little Sl*t like you!!'
Lightning Dust begins to cry and runs off.
'You OK Dashie? Ya seemed pretty upset with her!!' Soarin' asked, concern in his voice.
'Yeah I'm fine thanks hun !' I say.
He leans in towards me and then....

Sparks....
Sparks which have been building up over weeks of resistance are finally set free.
He kissed me. And that's all I needed to confirm his love and care for me. We are unbreakable, and anyone who thinks otherwise! Ha! We'll just teach them a lesson like we did with Dust.
