He missed her. Usually he wouldn't admit something like that, but this was Peko we're talking about. Peko was different. She always stuck by his side, no matter what.He analysed her features. Eyes closed and lips shut, her face was pale. She wasn't breathing, but she was alive.
It had been nearly two months since they had decided to stay on Jabberwock Island after.. everything. He visited her daily. It was quite lonely, being on that island for so long with only 4 other people for company. The rest were in the same state as Peko.
"Kuzuryuu? We're going to bed, it's getting late. Are you coming?" Hajime poked his head through the door. Akane, Sonia and Souda were behind him.
Not taking his eyes off of the unconscious figure in front of him, he replied. "I.. I want to stay here. Just.. For tonight."
The group of friends looked at each other and filed into the room properly. Nobody spoke for a moment, and he didn't bother acknowledging them either. He wasn't trying to be rude, it's just that he was focused on Peko.
"A-Actually, Fuyuhiko.. We.. Were thinking, maybe it's time to, um, give up on them.. Nobody has improved in two months." Sonia spoke up, scared of the yakuzas reaction.
The small male immediately stood up, dizzy from the sudden movement. He had barely eaten or slept the past few days, a recurring pattern his friends had noticed him suffering through. All he did was watch Peko. When he did sleep, it was up beside her, holding onto her protectively. He grabbed the railing on the bed and steadied himself.
"No! No fucking way! I'm not giving up on Peko, or the rest of them! How could you even suggest that?!" Anger coursed through his veins, clouding his thoughts. Although he wasn't close with many of his classmates, he wasn't going to give up on them. To him, throwing away those lives was.. Unnecessary.
"C-calm down! It was only a suggestion!" Hajime spoke nervously.
There was an increase in silence, the tension could be cut with a knife.
Suddenly the tension was broken as a beep echoed throughout the room and into the hallway. Everyone turned to the monitor hooked up to Peko that kept her alive. Her pale skin had regained color somewhat, and nobody moved as she began breathing normally.
"No way.." Souda exclaimed. He looked happy yet slightly scared. Akane and Hajime were shocked into silence. Had their efforts really saved Peko? Sure, it was only one person, but it was a life nonetheless.
"What the fuck is going on?! Sonia?!" Fuyuhiko began panicking, thinking the worst.
The princesses hands were clapped over her mouth. "I.. I don't believe it! she's alive!"Nobody moved for a moment, until the swordwoman's eyes fluttered open, scanning her surroundings. It was real.
"Y-young master? where am i?" she spoke, her voice raspy. It was still her voice though, oh god how he had missed hearing her voice. Kuzuryuu Fuyuhiko couldn't help it, tears freely fell down his face. He had waited two months for this, to see her, talk to her, to hold her.
"Welcome back, peko." He mumbled into her hair as he pulled the shocked teenager into a hug. "You've been gone too fucking long. Please, Peko, never do that to me again. I.. Don't ever want to lose you ever again! Promise me, that you won't leave again! For fucks sakes, Peko, I love you!"
Although confused as to why her friends were crying, the shocked girl hugged him back. "I... I promise young master."
