The room was filled with young students. The smells of various herbs lifted into the air. Herbs like cedar, cinnamon, basil and rosemary, and stones such as garnet, bloodstone, and topaz lined the walls. The walls were stacked with different plants and candles.
A girl sat in a wooden desk in the classroom. Long wavy crimson hair fell over the girl's porcelain face. She had chestnut colored eyes with amber spots that splattered near her pupils. Freckles clumped together under her eyes and cheeks. She wore a long green dress that stopped at her ankles and a long black coat that started at her stomach and created a upside down V to her sides till it stopped at her thighs. A thin leather belt with beautiful spell symbols wrapped around her upper abdomen. A small sewn on emblem rested on her breast that wrote Wyverstone University.
She had a silver stick between her fingers and was gently twirling it in the liquid that rested in a bowl. The different colors twirled around not really mixing. It looked like coffee with milk that was just poured in it. Billowing and twirling around like clouds. She added some sweet smelling herbs and then a small drop of vanilla. The mixture gave a soft spark and puffed up a bit.
The girl looked around at her tiers and their different creations. Some had created different colors mixing different ingredients and some also added small charms and spells into it to add different tools when used.
Tentatively she picked up the bowl and smelled it. It smelled sweet and nice. Pleased with her results she added two blocks of wax.
Cassius got out a piece of chalk and drew a fire charm symbol on her desk and placed the pot over it. The wax began to melt and soon she was happy with the waxy liquid. She casted a charming symbol into the twirling thick liquid. Next she got a thin candle and continually dipped it in. Soon the candle was finished and held many swirling colors like a crisp sunrise against a lake.
The candle was an enchanted candle. There were various charms that could be put in the candle to aid the Mage. Cassius had decided that it would levitate slowly beside the wielder and that it would rebuild itself. She dipped it in water toll let it cool.
A large plump woman with a stocky frame walked around the classroom. She had the school attire on but it seemed a bit too tight near her breast and she had very small feet for her size. The oak boards creaked under her weight. She scrunched up her nose as all the incompatible smells swirled around the room.
"I see that everyone is done with their candles. Since you all have nice new candles why not use them for a Candle Divination," Miss Bancroft said with her lips curled at the edges.
Candle Divination is a ceremony where a Mage or any person, who doesn't lack magic, drips hot wax drip into a bowl of water. Then they would look in the bowl for images to reveal upcoming things, emotions, or possibly things from the past.
Sometimes different colored candle wax could hint at different things someone was asking. Like if the candle wax was pink they possibly were thinking of love or if it was red maybe anger.
Cassius moved her thin fingers in the air and mumbled a small fire spell that would light her candle.
"Primal ignis accensus"
She then touched the tip of the candle wicket. A small flicker lit the candle. She picked it up and let three small hot drops fall into a bowl of water. She kept turning the cup around unsure as to what it was. It was either a messed up bird or very wavy cloud. That could either mean good things are coming or something soon would change.
Cassius thought this stuff was boring and just like cheap card tricks. It always said the same old things like that, and rarely did anything happen. She looked out the window and at the night sky realizing how late it was. Her head drooped towards her desk.
