The day of the party had arrived. I got dressed quickly, then jumped into the car. "Come on, Mom." I said, impatiently. "Let's go."
"Okay," she replied. I could tell she was trying hard not to get annoyed. We reached Jackson's house by 8:16. "Honey, are you sure he's awake?"
I nodded. I knew very few things about Jackson, but one thing I knew was that he loved to wake up early. "Yeah."
I walked to his doorstep, and rang the bell.
Jackson opened the door. "Hey Melody. Come on in. Kelly already made the food."
I nodded, "Okay." Who is Kelly? I wondered, but I didn't ask, not wanting to be rude.
Jackson led me to the backyard, which was large enough to be a park. "Here, is where everyone can hang out, and Cassedy is working on the pool right now. Seeing my puzzled look, he clarified for me, "Cassedy is my wife."
I nodded, "Okay."
I followed Jackson to the pool. Wow! It was huge! I walked around the pool, my eyes following the woody area behind it. I was led to the table, which held a feast. "Wow. Thanks, Jackson."
He replied, "Yeah. Sure. Now, I'll be in my room. Call me if you need me."
I smiled gratefully, then he left. I grabbed the list of those who were coming, and looked at it.
Kids:
Craig, Anna, Belle, Ivy, Sabrina, Melody, Kaitlyn, Tiana, Tyler, Angelina, Kay, Erin
Adults:
Mrs. Sunny, Mrs. Thompson, Mr. Olson, Mr. Matt, Mr. Smallman, Mr. Mark
Other
Max, Sky, Cassedy, Jackson, Kelly, Ted, Cash
Total: 23 people
I sat by the door and opened a candy bar. Just as I was about to take my first bite, the doorbell rang. I opened it to see Sabrina with Skye and Max. I smiled, "Welcome." Looking at Skye, I grinned. "Hey girl," Sky wagged her tail in reply.
I beckoned for them to follow me. "This, is the backyard. And the pool is over there." I pointed out, pointing to the right.
Sabina nodded. "Awesome."
I looked at her, confused. "Hadn't you been here before?"
Sabrina shook her head. "No. I usually stay inside."
I shrugged. "Kay. Now, let's go wait by the door for guests."
Hours later, everyone was inside partying. Thomas walked up to me. "Hey, Melody. Maybe you wanna go swimming?"
I shrugged. "Maybe later." I replied, my intentions not to go swimming at all.
"Oh, okay." He sounded disappointed.
Once he left, Sabrina giggled at me. "What?" I asked.
"Isn't it obvious?" She replied. "He likes you!"
I shook my head. No way.
By the end of the party, everyone was leaving. My party was a success. Ivy, Craig, and Sabrina were the only ones left. I smiled at them, as Craig shook my hand. "Thanks for inviting us to the party, Melody." He said. Then, he went to the car that was waiting for them. Before they left, Ivy whispered to me, "He likes you. But don't tell him I told you."
I grinned inwardly, but just kept on a cool expression. "Okay."
Sabrina said, "Come on."
Side by side, with Sky trailing after us, we went home.
The best time of my life.
