Ethan Pt. 1

Today I woke up feeling like someone was watching me. I sat up groggily, and once I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, I noticed I had left the blinds up and window open when I was doing night spying and forgot to close them after I got back in.

I crouched on the floor and got dressed quickly. Then, still crawling, went out of my room. When I was out of "window view" I stood up gratefully and stretched. Then, I snuck out the door to see who had been watching my window.  I stifled a gasp as a thought flew into my brain.  Was Ethan spying on me to get back at me for spying on him?  I peeked cautiously around the corner of the house.  And there, standing by the fence, watching my window with a dreamy expression on his face, was none other than Ethan.

I wanted to yell at him "hey! I'm right here!" But I couldn't because I lost my voice.  So I walked out from behind the corner as if I had just come out.  Ethan paid no attention to me.  He just kept staring expectantly at my window.  There is only one possible solution for this, I thought, I need to go back and look through the window.  So that's what I did.  When Ethan saw me, his whole face lit up like a Christmas tree.

He waved, then motioned for me to come out.  So I went.

"Claire," he said, "I need to talk to you...".

I didn't try to be rude, I really didn't, but this just slipped out.

"Well, what do you want?"

He looked taken aback at my harsh question.

"Sorry," I said immediately, "I didn't mean to sound so harsh."

"It's alright," he said in a voice so gentle it was disgusting.

"Why were you looking at my window with that strange expression on your face?" I asked.

"I was waiting for you to get up and come out and talk to me," he replied in that disgustingly gentle voice.

"You didn't need to do that," I said, finally finding my voice, "I come out every morning and look into your yard."

(A/N Jesus I made myself sound like such a stalker)

At that moment I knew that it had been a fatal mistake to say that.

"Y-you look for me?" He said, happy tears coming into his eyes.  Then I said something so strange I don't even think it passed through my brain before I said it.

"Of course I look for you, don't you know how I feel about you?"  Then, when I realized what I had said, I clapped my hand over my mouth so hard it hurt.  I had ruined all my evil plans for future spying on Ethan.  All of my practices would be in vain.

He would be looking out his window 24/7 to see when I would come out.  Then, we would talk for a long time, and then bad things would start to happen.

"I know how you feel," he said, "I feel the same about you."

At that, I groaned inwardly.  This was just like Bluestar's Prophecy, one of my. Warriors books, with Bluefur and Oakheart.  Ethan and I couldn't be together!  We were going to sell the house, and then I would never see him again.

"Ethan," I said, feeling wretched, "we can't be together."

"Why not?" Ethan said, the hurt clearly showing in his voice.  This time, I groaned out loud.  Wasn't it obvious?

"Because," I said, "when we sell the house, I'll leave and never see you again.  And besides, if I want to be spy, I need to I need to devote all my attention to my work, not a husband and/or kids.  They would cause a distraction and could be used as a lure by the bad guy.  (A/N this part is especially cringe-worthy because I was 11, and I don't think I should be worried about having a husband and/or kids).

"Hold on a second," Ethan said, looking like he wanted to curl up into a hole and die, "you want to be a spy?"

"Of course," I said, "it's my dream."

"Well, just in case I never see you again, I love you, and I'll always be here for you," Ethan declared.

"I-I-I love you too," I managed to say without starting to cry.

Aaaaaaand scene!  So what did you guys think?  Was is cringe-worthy enough for you?  It was for me *shivers*.  I don't know where my eleven year old self came up with all this crap, but it sure does make for a great cringe-worthy story!  You don't have to like it, but definitely comment and tell me if you cringed as much as I did.

P.S. This was all a straight copy from my journal, nothing was edited or changed

P.P.S.  Ethan was my next door neighbor at my grandpa's house and if you didn't pick up on it I had a huge crush on him.

P.P.P.S. Ethan pt. 2 coming soon!
