Ithuriel's eyelids flickered open. Through the mirror's reflection, in front of her, she saw the sunlight painting the light blue sky, with the tips of the pine trees, trees that were so many that reached far, in the horizon, creating the boundaries between the earth and the universe. In her head, though, despite the beautiful scenery that was unfolding in front of her, the memory of the nightmare she was having every night for the past few years, was just starting to fade away.
The snow coated peak of Mount. Olympus, the one she was able to see from the window of the room that was next to hers, suddenly exploded like a volcano and the mountain was shedding red liquid that was covering everything close to it, destroying it. The woman was standing at some corner, like she was crafted from marble, unable to take just a step closer, like her feet were nailed down to the wooden floor of her room. Forced to see this scene unfold quickly in front of her eyes that were wide with shock. The red liquid was forming a foaming river, only that the foam looked black. It was getting closer... closer, thought Ithuriel not at all able to do anything, not a single step in the opposite direction, not having any desire of running away.
When the river reached the yard of her house, she could see clearer. She could see that the red liquid was blood and the black foam was nothing but dark silhouettes of people, fighting to keep themselves on the surface. Suddenly, she noticed a recognizable face, something that finally shook to life a part of her. An explosion of her emotions pushed her to run, not to the opposite direction but straight inside the river to help him. It was breaking her heart to pieces to see him move his huge wings, struggling to remain to the surface. His body was not black, not as sinful as the others, he was dirty with the red liquid that was covering half of him, though.
"Raphael" Ithuriel managed to whisper, her voice betraying her heartbreak, the moment her eyes were fluttering open, bringing her to her senses, taking her far away from the tragic dream.
"Wretched dream!" she said and threw her bed sheets away. She had never met anyone with the name Raphael, despite the fact that he looked very familiar. She was not entirely sure if she wanted to have this particular dream or not anymore. On the one hand, it truly was scary, with the bloody river and the black foam. On the other hand, it was the only thing that made her see the features of the beautiful angel that was haunting her thoughts.
The door bell shook her little castle. The woman wrapped her silk robe around her and ran out of the room, towards the door, passing from the huge corridor of the second floor, running down the huge stairs, with the end of her night gown billowing behind her. The marble, yellowish steps were leading her on the front door. The door handle, magnificent and heavy under her touch, made its long service in this building clear, and the carved bronze key was turning softly inside the lock.
The heavy wooden door opened with a loud noise, the exact moment Ithuriel could see a huge carton in front of her. "Good morning. I think you have a package" a voice behind the package said, and a face appeared from next to it.
Ithuriel's blood turned to ice inside her veins the moment she locked eyes with the familiar, dark ones of the new postman. His messy brown hair was in every direction, as the wind messed it more, making him look like he was inside a whirlpool, a shining smile was to be seen in his face, and these dark eyes were locked in hers. "You okay?" he said reluctantly. She, on the other hand, was stunned, unable to utter a single word. "Raphael" he said, stretching his arm for her to shake his hand. "Newbie" he said and his look softened, as it was wrapping itself around her face, stroking it with a special kind of hunger. Ithuriel noticed that he was taller than her, as her head reached the end of his neck, and very broad shouldered. She hesitantly looked at his hand, that was stretched before him. "Ithuriel" she said with her breath forming a lump in her throat.
