I mean, you gotta start from somewhere, amirite?
It all started in 2013 or so, I fell in love with this shoujo manga series 'ChocoMimi'. I stand by the choice to this day, even if it is the dumbest and cheesiest thing in the world. It's adorable.
I decided "I wanna draw like this!" And off I went.

So, recently I discovered some old drawings hanging around and oh my God I can't believe I used to be worse than I am now. These will mostly be redraws more than they are showcases of previous talent. Maybe I'll add more to showcase as I find them.
Also, don't mind the awful quality of these pictures, I tried something new when editing and also may or may not have drawn these in the dark.
Put it on my resume: Learned how to draw anime cat girls. I specifically rememeber this one being straight out of a 'how to draw anime/manga' book. I never did learn how bangs work.
This paper was so awful it just felt wrong to draw on
Okay let's be real this wasn't a redraw, I just redrew the same character, but I like it so much.
Alright it's reflection time- sorry for everyone who was only here for some dank memery from yours truly.
So, all of this was about a 2-3 year time span of improvement. These 'before' drawings were all from about the time I was really starting to get into drawing and develop my skills, so obviously things are going to be different. Hell, this isn't even close to what my drawings will probably look like years from now, and by then I'll probably laugh and reminice about how bad I used to be then, too.
The point is, I know I have a long way to go, and my drawings are certainly not the best they can be, or maybe even will be. The fact that within a relatively short amount of time- especially in perspective to a lot of the people I envy and look up to, drawing wise- I was able to improve that much, it really is reassuring. It helps to keep in mind that while you may feel like your skills- and this goes for everything- may not be as good as someone elses or as good as you want them, that it really does take a lot of practice.
Tl;dr- Take time to look back at your skills, and if you draw, I really recommend redraws if you ever feel down. It really does help show how far you've come.
Thank you for reading my life lessons as a child, and I hope future me can keep this in mind.
I'll try to not be so deep next chapter :-)
Update on the special chapter though: once I stop dragging my ass and finish the project, it will be posted! (Which means hopefully within the next week)
