Ilene's POV
I woke up from the sun streaming through my window. I squinted my eyes at the light. I rolled over in my king sized bed and looked at the glowing clock. It read 7:55 am. 5 minutes too breakfast! Jeez, I slept in! I stepped in my walk in closet. I looked at my skinny jeans and sweaters and my frilly dresses. How I just wanted to be casual. I decided to be casual though people would give me a hard time. I threw on skinny genes and a turquoise sweater. Then I opened the door and ran down the golden hallway to the spiral staircase then skitter down to the 1st floor. I ran across the humongous room that was covered with pretty paintings. It's kind of like the common room except for there is nothing in it. Just a whole bunch of paintings and intricate designs that were gold and maroon all over the floor, walls, and ceiling. I stopped at the door which goes to the dining room. I turned the golden knob and stepped inside. Everyone was already there since I was five minutes late.
"Princess Ilene, wherever have you been?" Asked a maid named Bethany. She seemed completely appalled at the fact I wasn't right on time.
"Sorry miss," I said bowing my head in respect.
"Whatever are you wearing?" Gasped another maid named Maria.
"Uh," I said nervously.
Mr. Cals shook his head in disappointment. "Darroch, your daughter is an embarrassment to royalty," mr. Cals said. All of the people nodded in agreement. My face turned red.
"I don't think so," dad said.
After he maids served all the food they headed out. The only people who are in the dining room were the important people of the castle. There was one empty seat for the queen who we don't have. Yep, we have no queen here in Ireland. We used to. She was my mother. My father and I loved her so so so much. She died, though.
I ate politely but wished that I could use my hands for some thing and take notes instead of cutting everything into bite size.
The secretary looked at me. "Run along now. You have school," he said.
I was already dressed for school so I just had to brush my teeth and go to the bathroom. Oh and also put my hair into a bun and tuck it under my blue beanie so that no one knows who I really am.
After all that I ran out the golden castle doors and said hi to the guards. They didn't answer back just like always. I sigh and continue down the stairs. Dad offered me to ride in a limousine but I declined because I didn't want people to know who I am.
At school I ran to my best friend, iris. "Hey, girl!" I said. If I said that at the castle everyone would of gasped saying that I was so improper.
"Hey there!" Iris said.
"You going to the party tonight?" Asked Iris.
"No," I mumbled. I would not be able to sneak out of the castle. Also I would miss dinner which I can not miss.
"Aw, why not," iris pouted.
"Reasons," I said.
"What reasons?" Iris pushed.
"I can't skip dinner," I said.
"Why not?" Iris asked.
Then the bell rang. Saved by the bell! And also the fact that iris and i's first period classes are in opposite directions so we can't walk together.
My first period was math. When I walked in there was a woman at the front. Not my normal teacher."hello class! My name is ms. Lene," the woman said. "I am your new math teacher for the rest of the year!" Ms. Lene said with a wide smile. I was sure glad to get a new teacher. The teacher we used to have was really horrible. But ms. Lene seemed really nice and great.
