"ThE sKy Is FaLlIng!!!!" Those words rang in my head. They bounced around succeeding in breaking my fragile concentration.

A lone student stood at her desk pointing at the window. Not even she believed the words rolling off of her tongue. Now of course, as it is high school, most of the students didn't waste time to stare at the window. Wow.  The sky is falling!

To be exact there really couldn't be a better term for it. The sky was crashing down in large chunks. My heart beat picked up steadily. Everyone else sat in quiet. The class oh so happened to be engineering. The class was full of curious, smart scientists and yet, we have no idea what to do. A fire flared up in the distance. From what I could see from the large window was that a rock had struck the convention center.

The process repeated and soon everybody could see that the rocks just so happened to be large, metal orbs. The clouds in the sky were lit an angry red, the blue was now lit up with thousands of shiny orbs. Those shiny orbs were coming to the ground fast. Everyone sat still. That was until we watched our basketball court explode.

I got a hold of my head and ran. I grabbed the laptop and got the hell out of there. All I could hear was pure anarchy. Sirens shrieked about the whole city but they really didn't do much help. I mean without them I'm sure a few people would notice the shiny little balls that were plummeting to us.

Now at my school we made sure to practice safety drills. We had fire drills, earthquake drills, tsunami drills, quite a few. Just no drills for destruction from the sky. So of course everyone ran around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Oh mercy... Children go to this school. My body went numb and I froze watching ready faced toddlers running about. They couldn't be much older than twelve. What's even happening??

I ran outside into the warm September air and down the stairs decide  that maybe some layers above me would provide some protection. My mind was spinning like a top.

For a long time I cowered underneath those stairs hoping and praying to anything listening that I would be okay. That my classmates were okay. My friends. Family. For hours I tried hiding to protect myself from falling debris. Now. The world was silent. And that bothered me even more.

I dragged myself out of my safe space flinching at the gust of hot wind. Living so close to the ocean, it carried sand so it flecked my eyes even though my glasses somewhat protected them. The city... Was almost unrecognizable. Most of them were standing which explained why I wasn't dead but they all had heavy amounts of damage to their glass bodies. Some of them smoked fires or leaked oils and water.

My own school was mostly standing but from my place I could see the whole thing was peppered with dents and holes. This was extremely upsetting. I stares at the sky, dust billowing around my ankles and knees. The sky was bleeding. It was dark red, inflamed and hurt from the foreign objects breaking through its atmosphere. ...

I didn't see anything. No people. No bodies. No animals. The school flag was the most animate, lazily standing and waving in protest. It almost reached the ground now, concrete denting it into shape. I almost didn't feel the tears leaking down my cheeks. Everything was so... Shocking.

I slowly tested my body parts one by one. Two arms... One head... Eyes. Ears. Nose. Scraped up legs. I was okay. Very okay compared to everything else. I walked out to the front of the school entrance and left, wandering into the streets. Why is everyone missing? Why did everything get so quite?... It was so loud only an hour ago... Something is so so wrong.

I walked on and on, refusing to stop until I found something that could help. It was sad seeing landmarks destroyed. Our famous beaches were flooded with ocean water and garbage. Palm trees were resting amongst each other on the free way like fallen soldiers.

It was at least mid day now. I was thirsty, hungry, and very very sweaty. I couldn't find a soul. As I walked on I found a Seven Eleven that was not on fire. I rushed in to find the AC still lingered and so did much of their refreshments. Filling myself on foods that were definitely not healthy, I sat down.

I felt defeated and very upset. I stroked my laptop for comfort. I tried calling my family again. First I tried my mom, then my dad, then my little sis. Soon I strayed to others such as my aunt and uncle, my friends, then eventually family and friends who lived outside of my state. Nobody picked up. Every time I got static. Please let them be okay. I can't handle the responsibility of being the lone survivor in the apocalypse...

For hours I stayed huddled in the sad sad gas stop. During the time I sipped on very unhealthy grape soda and half heartedly ate some MnMs.

Hours later my body ached. My eyes were red and irritated from the crying I preformed and all of the dust in the air. My chest burned as well for the same reasons. As the sun, which was now a monstrous looking creature of death, sunk into the sea, movement came back.

Though it wasn't shiny little orbs this time. It was a ship. A star ship. At first I had no idea what I was looking at. It looked like there was a super heated circle in the sky, shimmering and warping the image behind it. I would of taken a heat wave over what came next.

Screeching. Loud, loud screeching. It sounded like a school fire alarm. That also pulsed with pure raw energy that had you withering on the ground whimpering for it to leave. It hurt. So bad. Within a minute I had contracted a headache. Everything grew fuzzy as the ship landed sparking up more dust in the distance. I couldn't see strait.

I'm pretty sure I peed myself when I felt warmth control my thighs though that was the least of my problems. I could feel my body fighting me. I couldn't control anything. Everything is so numb now. I can't see. My glasses had shattered and my nose began to bleed. It's like looking into a kaleidoscope. Except people were walking toward me. Pain increased having my vision fade to black.
