*Jessica's POV*

We were sitting at the table, after an anticlimactic dinner, when the doorbell rang.

"I wonder who that could be?" Mrs. Smith pondered, still smiling.

"Probably just Cam, her and Jessica were going to hang out." My father answered. Dylan shot me a glance before announcing he'd get it, before I could stop him. We waited awhile before he came back.

"This.. My fellow friends... Is not Cam. In fact, this is John Wilkes, apparently he's taking Jessi on a date," Dylan stated. "How sweet," He added.

"Dylan!!"

"Jessica! You are not going on a date, missy!" Dad said. I huffed and pulled John, the hottest guy in the senior class, aside.

"I'm sorry.. My dad wasn't supposed to find out,"

"It's cool, I'll call Cam.. Have fun with Dylan." He replied, walking out. I leaned up against the door, hands holding my head up, and let the tears slowly flow. "Fucking asshole.." I muttered as I felt two strong arms wrap themselves around my waist.

"Jessica, you can do so much better than that ass." Dylan whispered as he softly kissed my neck.

"I.. I know," I whimpered as I withered under his touch. I felt his lips turn up in a smile as he went back to the table. I grabbed my phone and slipped into the basement. It was where I always went when I was upset. I decided to text Cam.

To Cam:

Hey, Dad ended the date.

From Cam:

Text you later, Jessi, on a date of my own.

I sighed, knowing who the date was with. As I accepted that my night would be shit, I put the Lion King 1 and ½ in.

"Awh.. You still love this movie?" The oh so haunting voice asked.

"T'was my mom's favorite." I replied sadly.

"I know. I know more about you than you give me credit for, Jessica," He retorted.

"Probably because I want you out of my life."

"What happened to us? When did you grow cold?"

"Dyl," I tried to get him to stop.

"Jessi, you can't avoid this conversation forever. Avoidance is your go to."

"The day I realized you remind me of her!" I shouted, letting my walls crumble.

"The day she left you," He finished.

"You're the reincarnation of her. It's like she was your mom, not mine." I cried harder as he pulled me into his chest.

"Shhh, I'm here. I got you now," Dylan hummed quietly and petted my messed up hair until we both fell asleep.
