*Will's Pov*

I ran.

Tears stung at the edge of my eyes.

Horace had made a new taunt today.

"Will No-Name! You're a no-name and nobody will want you as an apprentice!"

That had stung. hard.

See, I'm one of the ward children. Meaning, my parents died in service to the kingdom. My father had died in battle and my mother died during childbirth.

I wasn't born here either, I was left on the ward steps, wrapped in a blanket and was placed in a basket.

No one knew my family history or who my parents had been. no one even knew my family name.

That's what I was thinking about, as I ran towards the big fig tree, that I sometimes retreated to.

I held no fear of heights, so lightly I climbed up the tree towards a thick branch at the top. I sat there, thinking about my life, about what the future could hold for me. Most of the thoughts were negative.

I must've been up in the tree for too long, as nightfall fell.

I sighed.

I got up, jumped lightly to the ground and ran towards the castle wards kitchen.

Maybe someone was still around, so that I could get some quick dinner or a piece of bread.

Sorry it's short, but I'm tired and have school tomorrow. I'll try and update in the next few days.
