Floating in the air made me dizzy. Where am I? Everywhere around me there was darkness; deep and think. The gravity suddenly activated and I dropped through the air; stopping just before I cracked my scull on the ground. After floating half a meter over the ground I was dropped. The landing was neither pleasant or exciting; it was almost like falling out of bed; painful and highly irritating.
When I was standing the darkness lifted. Flashes of light began speeding past me. The ones that got caught in my eye was of my childhood. Sitting on a swing while my parents pushed from behind, being at a carnival trying things together and eating ice cream, sitting at home watching a movie and so on.
These was all my precious memories from when I was young. A sadness spread throughout my body from the need of being together with my parents again. The pictures stopped and something like a movie began playing. A force began pulling me towards the source and no matter how much I struggled, it was no use. Passing the screen, I was standing in the middle of the movie seeing it play out.
I was like a soul locked inside a body; being unable to move or speak. Then it hit me, this was the 20th of September. I was currently walking down the street to go to school. Upon arriving, my friends greeted me, but I said nothing in return. This was strange even for me – I would never avoid or ignore one of my friends.
Throughout the whole day no communication was made. Returning home after school was not out of the ordinary. Coming into my room, fear went through my body. A source or power could be felt deep down inside my stomach; it was a feeling like burning yourself on a lit candle. The feeling intensified. My body curved together; knees up to my chest, hands on each side of my face tugging my hair and my eyes shut tight.
When my eyes opened again, my body froze. Even I was shocked. My things were floating in the air; books, my computer, textbooks, my chair and even my table was lifted a little off of the ground. A scream locked itself inside my throat. I need to calm down! What is happening?! Panic ripped at my heart and I stood up abruptly; trying to calm my rapid breathing.
The cries of my mother calling down for dinner drowned in my pounding heartbeat. Suddenly the things were dropped and shattered across the floor; the burning feeling subsiding inside my stomach. My breathing and pounding heart slowly calmed down and I sat down on the bed releasing a sigh. What the hell is happening to me?
~~~~~
The following days were the same; it only got worse. Cars lifting off the ground, people getting pushed out of the way, even the ground began shaking almost creating an earthquake.
The 22nd September my parents left town luckily for me. That was also the date that I took the decision on getting help. If I showed someone from the police my powers surely someone would sedate me so nothing would happen. Even if it meant never seeing my parents again or being locked up and tested on for the rest of my life – it was for the best.
I made the decision to go the day after and get some sleep. Tomorrow would be a day that changed my life. More than I could even understand.
The 23rd September
Waking up this morning was somehow different. I felt different. I have never been a morning person, but I was full of energy. After eating and surfing online about my destination, I placed myself outside the door and went on my way.
My footsteps became heavier the further I came into town. Thinking that it was just my nerves or what else, I kept moving. After walking for five minutes further my breath was rapid, sweat was cascading down my body, my heart pounded and I felt sick to my stomach. What is happening? I was fine this morning?
I took a break thinking that it was a good idea. Letting the breeze play with my hair was nice, while I sat on a bench a little from the road. But it did not help my condition and black spots overcame parts of my vision.
This was not good. I had to get to the station and they can call whoever that deal with these kinds of things. Standing up, I almost lost my footing if it was not for the tree catching my fleeting arms. The sick feeling did not improve as I slowly made myself move down the street.
I stooped for the second time outside a supermarket call 'Wall-mart'. It was here that most people bought their food and stuff. A feeling slowly made itself know like it had down these days. Panic started up again – I could not use these 'powers' here...! There were to many people. Hastily trying to keep moving did not help and resulted in me falling unto the ground.
My chest started hurting and I felt like I was on fire. My body was unresponsive and my right hand clenched the fabric of my shirt where my heart was; while the other was holding my torso upwards. It felt like needles was stabbing the area and my body was boiling. A kind soul moved towards me to check if I was alright, but a scream instead of words came out. She was starring horrified at my skin, while her hands covered her mouth.
Frowning the best I could through the pain. Looking down my eyes widened; skin turning from a tan brown to a boiling red. The ground even began boiling and I was sinking downwards in slow motion.
"Get out ... of ... here! ...Now!
The woman nodded and ran for her life, but she and the many others did not make it. The feeling in my stomach spread to my other limbs and a blinding light came out each of my pours.
"ARGHHH!"
I screamed at the top of my lungs and the blinding light exploded from my body. Before falling unconscious, I saw how the blinding light in a circle like state destroying everything in its path; buildings shattering, glass flying everywhere and people screaming as they were reduced to ash. My body fell to the ground and the darkness swallowed me once more.
Hearing someone calling for me and a tunnel with light at the end appeared. I shot up in bed covered in sweat; My eyes wide with fear, shock and dread. Hugh looked me in the eyes and worry flooded his pupils.
"What happened? Are you okay?"
I could not answer his question, the only thing that came out of my mouth was the dreading truth.
"It was me. I was the cause."
