Harry’s P.O.V
I woke up the next morning feeling someone watching me. I opened my eyes and saw Heather’s face inches from mine, staring at me. I smiled, and saw her flush a light pink color.
“Were you staring?” I asked, looking at her. She smiled and looked away.
“No, I was gazing.” She corrected me.
“That makes a difference.”
“No. Gazing is less creepy and more romantic.” She said sounding smug. I moved in closer to her, I cupped my palm around her cheek and lightly brushed my lips against hers. I slid my other hand under the side of her face, and pulled her firmer into me. She reacted and wrapped her hands in my hair. Just as the kiss was deepening, I felt the familiar burning run through my body. Ignoring it, I kept kissing her. Then I felt my teeth growing. I quickly jumped up and ran into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and saw my eyes grow red and the veins beneath them pop out and turn black. I willed myself to go back to normal but with no use, I was hungry. Walking out to the kitchen, I ran into Heather on the way there.
“Harry? Are you okay?” She asked walking towards me. Suddenly the urge got to strong and I grabbed her and pulled her to me. I held her head and tilted it to one side. Brushing her hair off her neck, I could see the blood rushing through her veins. Without a second thought I bite down, causing her to cry out in pain.
“Harry! What are you doing?” She screamed in pain, I wanted to stop but I couldn’t, she tasted so good. Once in a while you’ll get someone that tastes rare, exotic and she was that person. I kept drinking until I saw her start to drain in color, turning a deathly grey. Then it hit me what I was doing. I was drinking Heathers blood. I can’t do this she is such a sweet girl and I was actually starting to have feelings for her. I can’t kill her! I pulled away, a terrible feeling settled in my stomach when I released my hold on her and she fell to the ground in a lifeless heap. I dropped to my knees beside her and gathered her in my arms. Biting my wrist, I pushed it to her mouth, relief flood through me when I felt her swallow. The color started returning to her very slowly going from grey to her natural golden tan. Her eyes bated open, searching around until they landed on me. I saw terror cloud her eyes and she scrambled to get away from me. Pain set in my heart, seeing her that scared of me. I grabbed her and pulled her close to me. She was shaking and straining against me but she was no match for my strength.
“You will not remember what just happened.” I said, I felt my pupils dilate.
“I will not remember what just happened.” She said, mimicking my every word.
“Not even the kiss.”
“Not even the kiss.” Sadness washed over me, knowing she wouldn’t remember anything that happened between us, but it can’t happen again until I get more control.
I released her and watched her come out of her trance.
“Good morning Haz.” She said cheerfully, feeling more perky than normal. “I don’t even remember getting up this morning.” Confusion washed over her face.
“That’s weird. Come on let’s make breakfast.” She shrugged her shoulders and followed me to the kitchen. I opened the fridge, I saw nothing worth eating. Moving to the cupboards I saw muffin mix and pulled it out. I mixed all the ingredients into a bowl, then poured it into a cupcake pan and slid it in the oven.
“I was thinking I could take you shopping today? To get you some new clothes?” I asked, taking a bite of the muffin. I looked up at her, she was biting into the muffin, eyes closed lost in the warm gooey chocolate chips. I wish there were more people like her. She appreciates everything she’s given. Normal people would eat that muffin without giving it a second thought.
