Have you ever wondered a world where you could be anything you wanted whether you were skilled in such an area or not. Where the impossible was possible. No I'm not talking of the future. But of what's right in front of us. More like what's inside us. Our mind, our imagination. And right now your saying that this sounds like such a cliche. And let me tell you, I hate cliches. But this one is true. For in our mind you can go anywhere, see everything, be anything.

Now doesn't all this sound amazing. Perfect, in better terms. But the problem is many of us are unable to use our creativity. To see, what I call, the possibilities. The world is filled with possibilities. It's our job, no, our choice to see them. Many choose not to. For then, we hope for the possibilities and deal with the let downs. And some can't deal with the let downs. But some, some handle the let downs cause they know there is always another possibility. Now there are very few of these people. Maybe you know one of these few. Maybe you are one of these few. Maybe you want to be one of these few. I don't know. But I do know of one these few.
James Taylor.

He's a fifteen year old artist and writer. Nice boy, full of wisdom that no one sees cause everyone thinks he's crazy. For he believes and hopes and never, ever gives up. He has a few friends who believe in him, but do not understand him. Just go to him when they need positive thinking.

Before I begin this story I should tell you this. James Taylor loves adventure too. You'll need to know that. Now how about we begin.

••••••

James Taylor was out in the woods. Following close behind him was Kat. Kat was his best friend, as well as his love. They'd known each other since they were three. Their mothers met at the neighborhood park. And them two, even though they were only three, got along great. They were inseparable until the third grade. But their moms found it unhealthy and told them to make other friends. Yet they still are together as much as possible.

"James, what are we doing?" Kat asked, looking from tree to mud. "Why are we in this disgusting forest?"

"When did you become such a priss?" James Taylor laughed.
"I hate when you do that!" She stopped and crossed her arms.

He turned around and stared, "what? Answer your question with a question? Why do you think I do it?" He began walking again, but turned back around and said, "Can't you at least walk while your pouting?"

"Sometimes, I hate you."

"I know." James said not looking back at her. Sometimes he hated seeing her. Cause every time he laid his eyes on her, he would fall for her all over again. He would want to go right up and lay one on her. But he was pretty sure she didn't feel the same way. Maybe she liked him but that wasn't how he felt for her. You see, when James Taylor falls for a girl he falls, and he falls hard. He loves Kat. He's always loved Kat and his biggest fear is her not loving him back.

"James?" She said staring at her sinking feet.

His eyes lit up with hope, "Yes?"

"Are you going to Celeste's party? I hear it's gonna be a blast."

"Don't we hate Celeste?" He had hated Celeste ever since the ninth grade when she cheated on him for Harry Donoview. When she found out he still loved Kat she was infuriated. And with her popularity she could get anybody, so she showed James that.
"I don't, you do. And seriously, are you still holding that grudge?" She crossed her arms. "She told me she still likes you and wishes you'd give her another chance."

"She doesn't like me, she wants me."

"What girl doesn't? Your hot!" Kat immediately regretted what she said. "I mean, you not hot, your just handsome. Not handsome!" James just stood there enjoying her ramble. "You just got that nice hair going. I mean it's got good color and your body is, ummmm, not fat."

James laughed. "If I didn't know any better Kat, I'd say you find me attractive."

"Do not!" Kat blurted and it kinda stung for James like an innocent bee sting would.

"Oh." He said and looked at his shoes. "You didn't have to say it like that."

"What? Do you find me attractive?"

James froze. And in his head all he could think were two simple words, oh shit. He had no clue what to say. He could lie but he was a horrible liar. He could crack jokes but she'd figure out his game. He could be honest but then he'd go down in flames.

"Hello? An answer please."

"Um.... I find you, your my friend, how could I think of you like that." He chose the route of lying.

"Liar!"

"What! No!"

"Yep, you do find me attractive. In fact you find me irresistible. You want me all the time. It's all you think about." Kat started coming closer to him, sticking out her chest. He was still frozen, speechless. She circled around him and when she was behind him, she whispered in his ears, "I want you too." She kissed his neck and put her hands around him. She went all the way around him. And before she could do anything, James kissed her.
Her lips were soft on his. Her mouth tasted like the smell of her Very Berry Chapstick. James didn't know what was happening. But everything just felt right. Like that moment when all the stars align.

He backed off realizing what was happening.

"Uh.... Sorry." He felt the heat flushing through his cheeks.

"Awwww! Your blushing!" She kissed him on the cheek and said, "don't worry, it makes you cuter."

James was the cutest guy in school. So many girls didn't like him but, like Celeste, they wanted him.

It was weird seeing Kat like this and he knew something was up. He knew something just wasn't right.

"Kat are you on drugs or something?" Kat looked taken aback.

"Why would you even say that?!" She said angrily

"Because, one, you've never showed the slightest interest in me and now your making a bigger move on me than guys asking a girl to prom do." He didn't like saying all this. He wanted to just be happy and enjoy what was happening. "And, two, even if you truly do like me, this isn't how you'd act. This isn't you at all. Trust me this is a dream come true and all, but my real dream is for you to just be you."

Kat's eyes were watering and James Taylor felt just horrible. Suddenly, his mind began wondering again, wait Kat refuses to cry in front of people.

"Oh my god." He said and sat down on a rock. "This is a stupid dream."
And with that he woke up.

Authors Note:
Hello! My sincerest apologies for the shortness of this chapter. This is a novel I started about a year ago and I was not nearly as good a writer as I am now. My chapters were short, my grammatical errors, common. My writing since has much improved, though I have a good five chapters of this story already completed; therefore, it will be a little before I can show you the true nature of my work. The reason I posted this was primarily to get myself motivated to continue writing this story. At this current time, my writing time is focused on another novel I am in the process of writing. That novel is one I don't plan on posting because I plan on actually trying to get it published (the stressful struggle that'll be). Anyhow, if you did enjoy this first chapter, forgetting any and all errors of course, please leave a comment review thing, or vote or something like that. I'm used to posting my work on Fanfiction.net so I'm unfamiliar with how this site works. I'll have to work on that. Anyway, have a wonderful day (or possibly evening/night).
Forever after,
MMDelphine
