Toadpaw's mother has been avoiding him since he asked he a question. He remembered it clearly,
"Mom?" he asked Duskwater, "Yes Toadpaw?" "Why don't I have any siblings?" It was a question that he had wondered ever since he had opened his eyes. Duskwater looked slightly nervous, "Uhh... Uh... You just don't," she told him, the two were talking near the medicine cat den, Berryslip was inside sorting herbs. "Why? Others have them!"" "Well, you did..." a quiet voice muttered from inside the den, Duskwater heard it but Toadpaw didn't. After getting no answers, Toadpaw walked to where him mentor was.
Toadpaw sighed. He didn't understand. Walking over to where his mentor was waiting, he shoo his head to focus on hunting. Scenting a mouse, he got into the crouch Snowfall had taught him the day before. Pouncing upon the small rodent, he gave it a nip to the neck and brought it back to the white she-cat.
