Going Nuts for You

Chapter 1

Mithross

I rocked back and forth on my bed, staring at the cream wall in front of me. My ears twitched and my tail curled around my waist. "You're going nuts!" My brother joked, thinking it was funny. "You know I don't like jokes like that" I snapped, pulling my hood over my head. I was a science experiment, a successful one at that. But of all the animals I could have been fused with it had to be a squirrel. Why not a lion? Or a bird? "Jesus, sorry Ross. Catch you later grumpy pants" He mumbled, walking out of the room. My eye twitched, I'd always felt uncomfortable alone. I have Monophobia, fear of being alone, and of course my brother had to be the one to take custody of me. And of course, at this moment, I was having a Panic Attack.

I sat down at my computer, the screen came to life when I tapped the space bar. The room around me went silent as I opened RuneScape, telling me my brother had probably left. Mithzan was on the server, running around killing wolves. I pulled my headphones on and listened to the sound of Autumn Voyage flow through my ears. My hands were still twitching, but they calmed down slightly. My breathing got slower as well.

YourPalRoss: Hey Max!

Mithzan: Hey Ross, I was just getting ready for another quest, want to come w/?

YourPalRoss: Yeh, lemme go drop some stuff off in the bank first tho

Mithzan: Deal, meet me by the portal

While he waited, I went and grabbed my weapon from the bank, then deposited some of the excess gear I didn't need. Then we set off, bantering and joking around. SkyThekKidRS even joined in on our quest.

We had fun, but soon it was time to go to bed. I crawled under the covers of my twin bed and rested my head on the pillow. I slipped into unconsciousness and fell into my dream world.

~Dream~

"Ross, Ross, wake up!" I jolted awake and saw my brother standing in front of me, "Someone is here to see you..." He whispered, taking my hand. I carefully got up and let my feet hit the floor underneath me. The soft carpet melded around my feet as I walked behind my brother, his hand still gripping mine. When we reached the front door I could see a tuft of red hair through the glass. I immediately opened the door and saw Mithzan standing on my doorstep. He jumped at me and wrapped his arms around me. I don't even know what he really looks like in real life, but I know he has red hair. When I pulled away from him he vanished in thin air, I knew it wouldn't last. But this dream was worse than others.

"You're a worthless experiment, a bigot without a brain" My brother spat, shoving me back into the house. "Unloved, Unwanted, Uncared for" He continued, raising his hand. I could see a small flash of light before his hand collided with my face. I whimpered in pain, looking at him. His eyes were blank, and cold. I couldn't muster a single word before he charged at me, yelling indescribable things. He beat me and beat me, and the win felt real.

~End of dream~

My eyes snapped open, I could feel the sweat dripping down my forehead. It was 7am, great. I sat up, wiping my brow with my sleeve. "Fuck" I mumbled, scratching my ear. The alarm went off, causing me to jump, I slammed my hand down on the button and got up to get ready. Nothing out of the ordinary, brush my teeth, do my hair, take a shower, do my hair again, and get dressed. That simple. I put on my grey jacket, the one with the bow-tie attached to the front, and slipped on my grey converse. I wore khaki shorts and my ears poked out from under my hair. My tail hung low today, I didn't bother trying to keep it up, to much energy. I should just bobby pin the damn thing.

My brother didn't drive me to school today, he just left for work without even giving me a heads up. 'Thanks Brandon, appreciate it' I thought to myself, grabbing a bag of trail mix. I walked to school seeing as I woke up pretty early. The frigid air nipped at the skin on my exposed neck as I walked, causing me to shiver. I pulled up my hood and hugged myself as I walked. It was the beginning of December, and in Washington that usually meant snow. The white little flakes decided to fall from the sky at that moment, piling on my head. Of course, I'd decided to wear shorts, but thats just me.

I rushed the rest of the way to school, shaking the snow off my head before I stepped through the front entrance into the wave of people. That didn't make it easy for me to get to my locker, but I managed. "Hey Ross!" I looked to my left and saw Emily standing next to my locker, I smiled and gave her a little wave. I grabbed my Math notebook for first period and walked with her to class. "Anything new with Adam or the group?" I asked, clutching my notebook to my chest, she nodded, "Yeah actually, Tim and Corey are dating now! Barney and Red are getting closer!" She blubbered, I laughed, "What about you and Jordan?" I teased, she shoved me a bit, causing me to burst into a giggling fit. We entered the classroom and immediately all eyes were on us, my tail twitched slightly as I quietly made my way to my seat, as did Em.

The teacher didn't seem to be 'In the mood' today so we just awkwardly sat there, staring at him. "Just go talk to your friends or something" He mumbled. Em was the first to stand, she walked right over to me and sat on my desk, crossing her ankles, everyone else went to meet up with their friends as well. "So, Jordan?" I teased, poking her in the ribs, she squirmed and lightly punched me. "Shut up! One of these blabbermouths are going to hear you and spill it to him directly!" Em had a huge crush on Jordan, in all honesty they'd be a cute couple. We laughed and joked about it, but then the serious subject came up. "Are you still avoiding Jin?" Em asked carefully, I nodded. He did unspeakable things. I shuddered at the thought and gave her a weak smile. She rubbed my shoulder gently before walking back to her desk. The bell was about to ring, so I shifted my feet, ready to stand up.

'Briiiing'

Everyone shot up and rushed out of the class, as did Em and I.
