"Where do you wanna go?" Alex asked me after awhile.
"I don't care, you usually have pretty good ideas, you pick," I told him.
He only smiled.
I reached forward and turned the radio on. I turned the dial until 103.5 appeared on the little screen.
Follow Me by Uncle Cracker was starting as I turned it up.
Alex smiled as he turned off the road onto a two-track.
I looked at him. "You should sing to me..." I said, with a smile of my own.
Alex had an amazing voice to go with his good looks, and his smiled widened a little as he agreed and started at the chorus.
"Follow me and everything is alright, I'll be the one to tuck you in at night. And if you, want to leave, I can guarantee, you won't find nobody, else like me."
I closed my eyes, and before I was ready, the song was over and the truck was off. When Alex sang, I never wanted it to stop. The sad part was, he wouldn't sing for anyone but me, and only if we were alone.
I opened my eyes and took in the surroundings. A small pond in the middle of the woods.
Forgotten Pond.
I smiled when I realized where we were.
"We haven't been here in forever," I said in awe.
"I figured you might like it," he said as he opened the door and climbed out.
I climbed out and met him at the front of the truck. He lifted me up and set me on the hood.
"We haven't been this way in so long, I forgot about it until I seen the two track," he said pulling himself up next to me.
Warm air swirled around me as I stared into the water that was only a couple feet in front of the truck.
"We should go swimming, we've got time," Alex suggested.
"You dirty pervert," I said with a laugh, even though he had spoke my mind.
"What?" He challenged.
"You know I don't have a bathing suit."
"So? Ever heard of skinny dipping?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
I laughed again.
"Come on," he said, taking my laugh as a yes.
I jumped down from the hood and slipped around to the passenger side.
I opened the door and rolled down the window. Shutting the door and making sure Alex was safely on the driver's side I undid my belt.
Pulling off my Nikes and my socks first I dropped them through the window into my seat. Then I slid my jeans off I looked at Alex through the two open windows.
"Remember when this was a daily thing?" I asked him, remembering the times we used to have here.
"Yeah," he said as he tore his shirt off and tossed it through the window.
When I was fully undressed I demanded Alex to close his eyes.
"Ahh, come on," he said with one of his signature crooked smiles.
"Don't forget your baseball cap you pervert," I said with my own smile. "Eyes," I repeated once he had flung his hat across the truck at me. I just dropped it with my stuff.
Alex flipped his headlights on and closed his eyes with an over-exaggerated sigh.
I made my way over to the huge rock that was used as our diving board. The pond was fairly big and surprisingly deep. Almost the whole thing was over my head.
Once I had climbed to the top and made my way to the edge I took a breath and jumped out as far as I could, hugging my knees to my chest.
Expecting the water to be cold, I was surprised to find it was like bath water.
"Okay," I called to Alex, turning away from the bank the truck was parked on.
I listened as he made his way to the rock and climbed to the top. The next thing I heard was the gentle splash as his body slid into the water. Just by the sound, I could tell he had dove.
My heart rate went up as I anticipated the touch that would soon come. Alex was underwater, I couldn't see him, that could only equal trouble.
Just as I thought, something grabbed my ankle and yanked me down. Once I was under I opened my eyes Alex was under me, holding my ankle, his crooked smile plastered to his face.
I reached down for his hand and he obliged. Removing his hand from my ankle, he took hold of my hand, only to pull me down farther. Deeper down, the water was freezing.
With a smile I pulled my feet up to his chest and pushed away from him. Swimming up, my head broke the surface and Alex's did a second later.
"It's so warm," he said.
"I know, it's like bath water," I agreed. "Do you still have those towels in your truck?"
"I don't know," he said.
"Great," I said sarcastically.
"I have blankets in the bed though," he said.
"Better then nothing I guess," I said, treading water.
I followed as Alex swam back toward the diving rock. There was a ledge underneath the water there. We could sit their and have only our heads sticking out above the water.
Alex seated himself on ledge and I set my hands on the ledge, holding myself up that way.
After awhile of just talking, I moved closer to him and wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his hips in a bear hug.
He smiled and rubbed his up and down my side. I looked up at him and he placed a kiss on my lips, sending shock waves through me.
Alex has kissed me before, plenty of times in fact, but never on the lips. It was unexpected and it had shocked me, and like everything with Alex, it ended too soon.
