Now it's Wednesday, and my new "positive" outlook on life is actually working. Shocker, right? I know, I hardly believe it myself. As I walk through the hallway, 5 minutes before the warning bell, signalling that I have two minutes remaining to arrive at my first period class. I suddenly remember that it is the first day of the second quarter, which means new students. At the start of each quarter is when new students who are either transferring to our school from another school in this county, or people who just moved here, begin at our school.
I push the thought aside and continue to walk towards my locker before class starts. When I arrive at my destination, I notice my class president assisting a rather short blonde that I have never seen before in weaving throughout the densely populated hallway. They stop at the locker right next to mine, and I see the class president hand a map of the school, a schedule, and a small piece of paper containing a locker combination to the short blonde, who I have now come to realize is actually astoundingly beautiful.
As she proceeds to open her locker, I examine her out of the corners of my eyes. Her hair was medium blonde, dyed dark brown underneath, and extended down to her lower back, perfectly straight. She had a golden tan, clearly naturally acquired from the sun, which was beautiful, but not too flawless as to where it looked fake. Her eyes, unlike most blondes, were not blue. Her eyes were the feature that drew me in the most, as they sparkled an emerald green hue. Her cheekbones were slightly raised, complementary to her small nose which rounded up into a slight point at the tip. She had and array of slight imperfections in her features, which in my eyes made her even more amazing to look at.
Wait- am I attracted to her? As I glance at her, admiring, I realize when I look at her, I feel amazed. I am attracted to her without a doubt. But, I have never been attracted to my own gender before... Well, with this whole new outlook on life, maybe it's time to try something new.
I decide to introduce myself to her. "Hi, my name is Sierra, are you new here?"
She turned to look towards me, and I worry that she won't respond, but she then says, "Yes, actually I just moved here two days ago from Virginia, and my name is Tiffany."
"That's awesome," I reply, "Mind if I take a look at your schedule to see if we have any classes?"
"Go ahead!" She gleefully responds. She hands me her schedule, and as it turns out, we actually have three classes together, including first period. My heart skips a beat thinking about how much I'm going to get to see her on a daily basis.
Next, we decide to head to first period. We take a seat next to each other once we enter the classroom. Casually, during our conversation, she turns to me and says: "Thank you for introducing yourself to me, it's great getting to know a girl here, especially a cute one." She then winked at me, and my heart skipped a beat, as butterflies flew into my stomach. Does this mean what I think it does? Maybe if I'm lucky. And with that, the conversation was over and class began. Maybe this year will be easier then I thought.
