Perrie

“C’mon Perrie, we’re going to be late if you don’t get your little arse down here!”

I sighed, checking myself once again in the mirror.  My blond hair was pulled into a slight side part; my eye makeup dramatic with dark eyeliner making my blue eyes pop.  It was a concert and probably too dark for people to see me, but I felt like I needed it.

           “PERRIE!”

           “I’m comin'!”

Turning away from my mirror, I was met with one of my best friends, Jade sitting casually on my bed.  “I know what you’re thinking, Perrie,” She said with a knowing look.

“Let’s not talk about it today,” I quipped throwing on a black leather jacket before leaving the room.

In the living room, my three best friends were slumped on the couch, hands glued to their phones.  Jesy was the first to look up at me.  She jumped up and wrapped me in a tight hug, “Perrie I missed you!”

“I was here,” I said laughing giddily.

            “Yeah but I wasn’t.”

I gave her another hug, this one comforting.  Jesy’s grandma had died the month prior.  The funeral was miles away and I had not seen one of my best friends in over a month.

“Well, shall we go?” Jade asked giddily.

“Let's hit it!” Leigh Anne exclaimed throwing her arm over my shoulder.

Jade’s boyfriend, Zayn, was in a band that was performing their first gig with an official record label and managment tonight.  I had never met him or seen any pictures, but he got them front row tickets and backstage passes.   He made Jade so happy; she lit up like a Christmas tree whenever she talked about him, including now.

We all piled into my car and started driving towards the concert hall.  “Jade what’s the band’s name again?”

She gasped, placing a hand over her heart.  "One Direction!"

“What?” I asked, looking at Jesy and Leigh and seeing the same shocked expression.

“Have you heard any of their music?” Jesy asked.

“No, I’m sorry.  I’ve been busy.”

“Too late now, we’re here!” Leigh exclaimed pointing to a large building about a half-mile in front of us.

We all got out and began to head over to the hundred’s of screaming girls lined up waiting for the doors to open.  I was shocked at how many people knew them, Jesy said they only came out of the X Factor a month ago.

We headed over to security with our tickets and backstage passes.  Security ushered us backstage with such unnecessary stoicness, the girls and I were about to cry with held in laughter.  We all burst out in hysterics when the man was finally out of earshot.

“Did you see his face?” Jesy cackled.

“We're friends of the band, not the Queen and her lovely ladies,” Jade cackled, snorting a bit.

A nice man working the lights LED us to a large room full of snacks and a few chairs.  A TV monitor showed the stage house where the fans would be watching from.  The boys were warming up and doing some pre-routine ritual.  We wouldn’t see them until they were on stage.
