"Mom, when are we going to get there?" "What time is it?" "I'm SOOOOO bored!"
These were the things i kept saying while we were driving to my grandparents house, and soon my mom just ignored it. We had been driving for over two- maybe three hours so far, heading from L.A. to this small town called Dublin. ( Okay, maybe it wasnt THAT small, but once a city girl, always a city girl.
I was extremely tired, bored, and had to pee. My iPad was dead, so I couldn't even play Candy Crush. All I could do was stare out the ever-so-slowly moving car's window. It was just me and my mom, so she had to drive this far by herself. Which meant about fifty stops through drive thru's to get coffee.
Also, the fact I was going to have to go away from my friends and adapt to my new school terrified me. I was fine with my old friends! Plus i had a huge crush on a guy who, when I get back, will probably have a girlfriend. I am going to stay at this- What was it? Thomas S. Hearth? I don't know- for a year; and THEN go to high school at L.A.
I must've fallen asleep, because my mom was shaking me vigorously. Man, it's hard for me to fall asleep, but once I'm out, I'm not getting up.
I groggily stepped out of the car and shut the door- very abruptly- and stared up at this house. It had neatly trimmed green hedges along a stone paved pathway, and roses lining the front around the door. There were all colors, lavender, deep red, orange, yellow and white. The house had a beige put yellowy tinge, with chocolate brown trim around the windows. In front of me now was a cute burgundy door and a welcome mat that said " Wipe your paws!" Well, now I know they have some kind of pets.
My mom rang the doorbell and out popped an old lady- who I vaguely remember- with gold curly hair and a smiling face.
" Come on in, how have you been Tayler? " I managed to say a faint 'good', but my voice cracked part way through it.
She was wearing an oversized knit sweater with cartoon cats and paw prints, paired with grey sweatpants and black fuzzy slippers.
The inside of their house looked much larger than the outside. My grandma and mom started chit-chatting away, so I looked around.
There was a lot of pictures of me when I was younger- I wasn't planning on having friends over anyway -.- There were many cat toys and beds laying around, but no cats. There was a big kitchen, and a huge flat screen tv. I was always told my grandpa was a computer geek-- where was my Grandpa, anyway?
I scampered all over the house looking for him. I did run into a cat, who was wayyyy overweight and had grey and black stripes. Someone spoils their pets.
At last, I stumbled upon a master bedroom with a big lounge chair, which was where my grandfather was, with his laptop.
His headphones were on, so I waved in front of his face to get attention.
He said, in a deeper voice than expected, "Hello, how may I help you, kind ma'am?
I told him, " Well, is there any chance you could make something for dinner? I'm getting pretty hungry and Grandma's busy talking..."
I rubbed circles around my stomach for emphasis.
" Yes, we have Leftover ham and potatoes, or we could make chicken and pastaaaaa! ( he didn't really say it like that, Hetalia reference :3)
Ham? Chicken? Pastaaaaa? (Lol) We never had these things at our old place! Only fast food and takeout!
I said, "Chicken and pasta would be great! " I put on an adorable smily face and walked away.
