A/N: Welcome to the kingdom of Auradon! I have been wanting to write this story for a long time but never had the time since I had been in the Avengers mindset (if curious check it out).
This is going to be a short story, looking a bit more at the relationship between Ben and Mal. You will meet new characters and hear new songs (not mine Alan Menken's).

With the bright sunny day signalling the end of winter, the whole kingdom was filled with excitement as the biggest festival of the year had arrived. Some of the royals were not excited for this grand event, but the newly proclaimed King was filled with so much joy and anticipation. Therefore, Auradon Prep was closed for the day due to the festivities.
Mal and Evie were finishing up their outfits when the guys knocked on the door. Jay peeked in with Carlos under him. "Hey are you girls ready?"
"Yeah just a sec." Mal responded, focusing on her eyeliner that Evie gave her.
The boys just came in with Duke, sitting on their beds. Carlos saw Mal's dress and exclaimed, "Whoa, Mal! You look great."
Wearing a long spring dress with her favorite colors in a elaborate patterns, Mal looked ready for the occasion since she would be sitting on the throne beside Ben that day.
Evie smiled proudly. "You can thank me for her new look."
"Yeah I wanted to look somewhat nice today since I'm sitting with him today."
Evie interjected. "Plus I heard his best friend was coming home finally. You gonna look your best for him."
"It's just some friend from France."
"Wait," Jay asked. "Since when does Ben have friends there?"
"Since forever I guess," Mal answered as she put on her jacket. "He and his parents visited there every summer."
"Mal, you need to be perfect today." Evie said with urgency. "This could be the make or break of your relationship."
"How so?" Mal crossed her arms.
"This is Ben's best friend. The one who Ben trusts wholly with everything. The one friend who Ben relied on before you came into the picture. From I heard, he was also the one who only supported but helped Ben with his proclamation for us to be here."
Now Mal was getting a bit nervous but didn't show it.
Evie continued. "Which could possibly mean that he would become the grand duke and royal adviser to the throne. If he doesn't like you then he would tell Ben and" The blue haired female snapped her fingers. "You are done."
If the daughter of Maleficent was not nervous before, she sure was now. Ben was possibly the best thing that has ever happened to her. She could not bear the thought of losing him.
Jay nodded. "She got a point. If I had a girl you guys did not like, I would listen to you and not hook up with her."
Carlos saw Mal's state. "Guys don't freak her out."
Mal shrugged. "Psh, I am not worried. If anything, I am just curious who they are and where they have been all this time."
A knock came at the door. It was mostly likely Ben.
Evie hugged her quickly. "Good luck! We'll see you there."
Opening the door, Mal smiled at the sight of her amazing boyfriend.
Ben was wearing his official kingly gear but instead of the blazer he had the royal stash along with his crown. He wore signature smirk but it dropped in a daze of her.
His mouth dropped slightly. "Wow you look amazing."
"Well you look pretty amazing yourself." She smiled at him.
"Ready to go?"
"Yup."
As Mal walked arm-to-arm with Ben to the festival, her insides was going crazy. She was already slightly nervous to be with Ben at an official event, but it was now worst with the fact she was meeting Ben's best friend.
Hopefully, he approved of her.
