A Cruel Beast
Time stands still staring at me
I try to bargain with it
to have it move forward
but it stares on blankly into oblivion
Stuck in this time of plainness
Why won't he set me free?
Free from the white noise and blank stares
Free from the nothingness that surrounds
I try once more to bargain
I plead, "let me be free"
let me live my life the way it was planned not as you want it to be
not to be stuck in the awkward nothing I am
Still blank stares as I lay down
giving up on time moving his hands forward
finally facing the facts that nothing is all it will be
the blank stare turns into a smile, white noise into laughter
as a friend saves me from the cruel beast time
She set me free like a bird flying in the sky
I am free to be myself
focused on pleasing me and no one else
