You honestly can't believe your mom got that mad at you. You didn't even do anything wrong. She just started yelling at you and you left the house. You just started walking. It wasn't until you were several blocks away from your house that you realized you didn't have your phone with you. Oh well.
You continued to walk around town to blow off some steam. As you turn a corner to begin your walk back home, you see someone headed your way.
Riley.
As he approaches you can hear him panting. He must have been running.
"Where have you been?" he asks you.
"Walking. Just around town."
"Why don't you have your phone on you?"
"I forgot to grab it when I left the house. What are you even doing here?" you try to say this as nicely as possible. Riley has always been an extremely good friend and an even better boyfriend and you really don't want to upset him by being rude just because you're mad at your mom.
"What do you think I'm doing here? I'm looking for you. I was so worried. You weren't answering my texts or my phone calls. I called your house but your mom said you had stormed out an hour ago and I just...what was I supposed to do?"
"I don't know Riley. I don't even know what I'm supposed to do." Suddenly you are breaking down and tears are pouring. "I don't even know what I did."
Your sitting on the ground now against the nearest building and Riley walks over and sits down next to you. He puts his arm around you and says, "It's ok babe. I understand. We can just sit here until your ready to go home."
The two of you sit there for a while, you with your head on his shoulder, his arm around you, while you cry. It goes dark and after about half an hour, you ask, "What time is it?"
He pulls his phone out and it says 9:45. "I should probably get home. I'll be in even more trouble if I don't show up soon" you tell him.
"Are you sure?"
"No. But I don't have much choice."
Riley gets up and gives you a hand to help you off the ground. "Ill walk you home." Then he grabs your hand and intertwines it with his. As you walk home, he strokes your hand with his thumb to comfort you. And by the time you're home you do feel a lot better.
Before you go inside Riley looks you in the eyes and says, "I love you. And I will always help you through anything. Next time don't forget your phone." He winks at you and leans forward to give you a kiss on your forehead. He just looks at you for a few seconds and starts to walk away.
"I love you too Riley," you say, before he can get out of earshot.
