Chapter 5: We Go Together Or We Don't Go Down At All

Max's P.O.V:

"Max, wake up", Tonys voice shook me from my sleep.

"No", I groaned.

"We have school today", he said.

I snuggled into his side and buried my face in his neck.

"Forget school, I'm tired", I mumbled.

"This is exactly why we shouldn't have stayed up all night", he sighed.

I felt him try to get up and I held him tighter.

"No, don't go", I pleaded, nuzzling my face further into his neck, enjoying the body heat.

I felt him shiver. If he's cold, he should just get a blanket.

"We should go", he said.

"No. Stay", I mumbled.

My eyes felt heavier by the second and I yawned.

"Max, we can't just ditch", he groaned.

"Please? Can we sleep for like another hour then go?", I asked.

"Max...", he groaned.

I lifted my head and looked at him pleadingly.

"Please", I begged.

"Ughh...fine", he gave in.

"Yay", I murmured, resting my head in his neck again.

"But only for an hour", he said.

"Only for an hour", I repeated, drifting off.

"Shit! We missed school!", Tonys voice once again woke me up.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up, looking at his clock.

4:15 PM

"Oops..", I said, sheepishly.

"Mom's gonna kill me. Then you", he added.

"Maybe she loves us too much?", I asked, hopefully.

"Antonio Caesar Perry and Maxine Leah Trejo!", a voice boomed from downstairs.

Our eyes widened and I looked at Tony in fear.

"Hide!", we both said at the same time.

We ran into his closet as we heard footsteps walking up the stairs.

"Nice knowing you", I whispered to Tony.

We could hear the door open and someone walk into his room.

"Yeah, see you on the other side", he whispered back.

"You can't hide from a mom on a mission", Mama Perry said, yanking the closet door open.

She crossed her arms at us and Tony and I looked at eachother.

"Run!", we yelled simultaneously.

We tried to make a mad dash past Mama Perry but she wasn't having it.

She pulled us both by our collars and yanked us towards her.

"Why did I get a call from the school saying you weren't there today? And your Aunt called me telling me you were a dead woman", she warned me.

"Wow, Mama Perry, you look really nice today. Did you get a hair cut?", I asked, smiling nervously.

"Nice try, Max. Both of you, explain now", she ordered.
