I woke up to very loud and blaring music.
I got a pocket,
got a pocket full of sunshine
I've got a love and I know that it's all mine
oh.oh,oh
Do what you want,
but you're never gonna break me,
sticks and stones are never gonna shake me
oh,oh,oh
I opened my eyes regretfully and rolled out of my bed, and fell onto the floor. "Ugh," I groaned, "come back in five minutes uncle Pat, I don't want to go right now." He sighed and helped me up in my groggy state. "Get ready now so we can get you to your new school early," he said, "unless you want to get there with everyone else and we can embarrass you then."
My eyes bugged out and I grabbed a box with clothes, muttering Fine as I rummaged for something to wear. He left the room and closed my door so I could change in privacy. I settled on a tank top, jacket, and skirt; I guess if I am going to make an impression it should be a good one.
After I got dressed and slipped on my white converse, I grabbed my backpack with supplies for the day ahead of me. I went down the stairs and grabbed an apple from the bowl on the table. "Uncle Pat are you taking me soon?" I asked somewhat nervous, still scared even after what seemed like hundreds of first days of school.
He smiled at me and grabbed a key from the coffee table, "Of course! I have taken you to your first day for as long as I can remember," he said with a smile. I grabbed my backpack and left the loft, giving uncle Bradley and Dan a quick goodbye.
I was excited for a first time. To be honest, I felt this year would be different for me. I could already tell that this would be a good time. The ride was not that long, it was probably only a fifteen minute walk which would be the way I would be getting to school for the rest of the year.
He parked the car and we went into the front office. The woman at the office looked so small and frail. She offered up a sweet smile. "Hello darling," she said softly, "You must be Lillian Cooper! Welcome to our school, I can find you someone from the welcoming committee to show you around today." I smiled back at her. She handed me papers, which included my locker and combination, class schedule, and a student handbook.
Uncle Pat came out of an office and told me to have a good day. I nodded in agreement and we said our goodbyes. I sat in the seat across from the lady in the desk, awkwardly waiting for whoever would show me around.
"Well look who we have here," a familiar voice said, "Do I have the pleasure of showing her around today?" I sighed looked up at Milo. The woman at the desk smiled at him, "For half the day yes," she said softly, "you and Rachel will show her around today."
He sighed and sat beside me. I felt self conscious about what I was wearing, I felt like his eyes were never leaving me. " So should we go to your locker? Or do you want to see your homeroom?" he asked me. I scratched my neck nervously, "Homeroom I guess," I said, "Here's my schedule." I held out my schedule.
He smiled at me and we started to walk out into the hallway. "So are you glad I came to your rescue yet again?" he asked grinning. I rolled my eyes and continued to follow him. Of course, how did I not see how full of him self yesterday?
"Hey! I am not full of myself!" He said with fake hurt spreading over his face. I looked confused and then realized that I had said my thoughts out loud. "Wow, I didn't see you as a good actor, but good for you, nice to have options..." I said and laughed. He chuckled to himself and continued to walk down the hallway.
