It was a Friday night. And like any other Friday night, I was trying to finish up to start my long weekend.
"Wynter" My boss wailed at me.
"Yes" I replied with sass. I was annoyed now.
"I'm leaving early, remember to lock up when your shifts over" He said as he put his jacket over his big blubbering stomach.
My boss was a big fat Italian old guy. He was loud mouthed and annoying. I honestly don't know why he's leaving early, its not like he actually has plans.
"Ok " I responded.
"Good girl" my boss said as he walked out the door.
"Good girl " I mocked him as he left.
I work at billies diner. The most disgusting diner that people some how actually enjoy. Of course the diners named after my boss, billy.
I'm Wynter. Its pronounced winter like the regular month, just spelled differently. I'm currently a nineteen, single, teenage girl, who lives by herself in a crappy apartment in the city.
I thought life would be more exciting but its not as cracked up as I thought. I see myself rather being alone than hanging with a bunch of girls who have more daddy issues than morals.
Anyway. I'm waiting till 11 o clock to clock out and go back to my Shit stain of an apartment. Luckily for me, the diner is empty and its 10:55.
I can enjoy the rest of my night with a relaxing bath and a night long sleep. Then wait till Monday and repeat my daily schedule.
Exciting right?
Bing
That's the annoying sound of the door when someone enters the diner. Funny thing is, who enters a shitty diner that closes in 5 minutes on a Friday.
It was some guy in a hoodie and jeans. He didn't even look me in the eyes as he pulled a chair and sat right on down.
"Um excuse me, can I help you sir" I said with sass.
The man looked around and then at me.
I saw his eyes. They had this strange sensation in them that I couldn't ignore.
"I'm sorry" He said as he took his hood off. "Are you talking to me".
"Yea. You are the only one in the dinner " I said as I strangely looked at him.
He had messy spikey hair. Like he didn't bother to try to look good this morning. He looked young, Like about my age. His skin tone was that type that you couldn't tell his race. He had a very chilled feeling to him.
He looked at me with a worried look.
"You can see me? " he asked as his eyes widened. He stood up and looked around.
"Yea, I can see you. Why are you acting weird? " I asked.
"Oh " he said as he calmed down.
"Sit. I'll get you some coffee because you look tired" I said.
I went in the back and prepared some coffee. It was 11 o clock now but I didn't care much. The guy interested me.
"here you go" I said as I put the coffee on the table.
"what do I do with it " he said as he grabbed it.
"Are you serious" I laughed. "You drink it.... But let it sit for awhile, it's very ho--"
He interuppted me as he chugged the coffee without a thought.
"OK, never mind" I said as I sat with him.
"Thank you " he said as he put the cup down, which was empty. "How much does it cost? "
"Normally 3 dollars. But it's on the house " I said.
He looked at me. "Thank you" he said as he smiled and looked at the cup.
"I'm wynter " I said as I reached my hand over the table to him "and you are? ".
"You can call me D " he said as he shook my hand.
"Well ok D, the shops about to close" I said.
D had a look in his eyes. Like the Same one I had. Maybe he's just like me where he wants more excitement in his life.
"Oh Ok " he said as he got up. "It was nice meeting you, wynter" he said with a smile.
"It was nice meeting you too" I said.
D left the diner and I clocked out, ready to return to my regular boring life.
The night was cold. It was 11:20 and I have a distance to go to get home. I wish I had a car but that's the main reason I work at a shitty diner, to get money for a car.
I pulled my jacket on as I walked past my neighbors house.
I heard smashing and a bunch of noise. I could have just walked away. But I felt worried.
My neighbor was a kind old man who would leave candy outside his house for kids even though it wasn't Halloween. So for him to be smashing things in his house, there must be something wrong.
I ranged his doorbell then everything went silent.
Soon I heard a faint growling. He didn't have a dog so what was making that sound.
"Hey, Mr. Canner, you ok in there? " I said as I tapped on the door.
BANG
The door suddenly broke down and soon a big black monster looking thing came out.
"HOLY Shit " I said as I started running.
The monster started chasing me down the street. I didn't look back at it, I just knew it was because I could hear it's paws touch the ground as he ran.
The sound was getting closer.
"Help . SOMEONE " I screamed.
People saw the monster and started running away too. No one stayed and tried to help. People in cars drove away and people in houses locked their doors.
I got a good distance away from the demon thing but he was still chasing.
As I ran I saw a little girl running too. I have no idea why she was even outside this late.
"Follow me " I said as I grabbed her. If anyone knew these streets, it would be me. We ran down a alley way where there was a hole in this big fence.
I got through easily and tried to help the girl.
"I think I'm stuck" she said as she started tearing up.
"No. No, don't worry I'll get you out" I said as I tried to pull her out.
The fences weight was on her so I needed to lift it .
"Hold on" I said as I tried to lift.
The monster saw us down the alley ways. It began running in our direction.
Dammit. I kept trying to lift.
The girl was struggling trying to get through.I was loosing hope, but suddenly, the fence was raising. I looked to my side and saw D lifting it up. The little girl slid through and continued to run.
"Come on " he said as he grabbed my hand and we began to run as the demon smashed up against the fence.
I will always remember that day. That moment. When me and deaths fate became intertwined.
