Let Me Free Ch. 2
Jocelyn's Pov
'An evil laugh, an angry rough touch. The constant torture, the overwhelming fear. And the burning, burning, BURNING. Always burning, never any stop. They couldn't break me, they wouldn't. But they were. Deep down, I could feel myself giving up, the master had an urgent terrifying aura about him. He's angry again, run, run, RUN!!!!'
Waking from the grips of, yet again, another nightmare, I gasped and shook from the fear and agony of the dream, which had been a flashback from my past. In my previous enslavement, my master had been extremely cruel, and loved giving me tasks I couldn't complete, resulting in me being punishably burned by the relic until near death.
I gripped the amulet tightly in my fist as I inhaled and exhaled shakily, dragging my free hand across my forehead, to rid it of sweat, and to rid me from the past. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. After a few minutes, I finally calmed my breathing to a normal level and threw back my covers, standing up on slightly wobbly legs. I was tempted by the idea of taking another mouthful of blood, but put it off, knowing that I didn't need to drink for another 2 weeks. Letting out a slow, sputtery breath, I ran my fingers backward in my hair, combing out the knots that had formed in my fit of tossing and turning in the darkness of the night.
Grabbing my hairbrush, I gently pulled the brush through my stubborn, waist-length light brown hair, combing through until I had removed all the tangles. Braiding it down my back, I sluggishly changed my clothes into a more appropriate attire. Biting my lip as I looked in the mirror, I contemplated wearing my glasses today. Deciding against it, I mentally prepared myself as I raised my fingers to the locks on my door. Was I ready to face them? Oh gosh, why am I so nervous? They're just people. People that I live with. Oh geez, I forgot they live here now! I groaned, then steeled my nerves as I confidently unlocked both locks and exited the confines of my space. Locking the door behind me,( cause only I have the key to get in) I braced myself as I walked down the hall quietly, careful not to wake or disturb anyone. Poking my head around the corner as I reached the end of the hallway, I noticed a shadow in the kitchen. Tiptoeing in, I saw the tall black haired girl from the night before. I couldn't remember her name, but she looked confusedly around the kitchen.
"Need a hand?"
I asked quietly. She jumped and spun around in my direction quickly, but relaxed when she saw me.
"Oh, yeah, I um, just forgot where dishes are." I smiled nicely and pointed above the countertop at the cupboard.
"Dishes are in there. Please wash them when you're done using them, it helps to keep it smelling fresh in here." She smiled back,
"Yeah sure. Hey thanks Jocelyn." I looked away shyly, not remembering her name.
"I'm sorry, I was a bit out of it last night and I forgot what you told me your name was." I looked up at her through my lashes, noticing that she'd moved closer to me. Slowly, as if stalking prey, she grasped my wrists and took deliberate steps forward. Startled, I matched her pace backing up, until I jumped slightly as my waist hit the counter behind me.
Using one arm, she trapped me against the counter, bending down some to accommodate for my height. I was completely at her mercy. She flashed a brilliant smile through her hair, as a few strands had covered her face. Something swirled in the depths of her eyes, but I couldn't catch what it was. Smoothly, she trailed her other hand down my forearm to lift my hand to her lips, placing a gentle kiss upon my palm, before speaking. "My name is Amanda. But you can call me whatever you want, gorgeous."
