Smalls and Heather

I see her

Smalls POV

Wilfred was going to see his brother,  and apparently his niece and a nephew he had never met.

We were walking and talking as we went along,  then we saw it.  There was a house on fire surrounded by wolves.  Inside the house we could just make out 3 figures.  I looked over at some pine trees that had a squadron of wolves waiting, but for what?  Then I see her.  A beautiful pure white doe, now covered in ashes, was running straight towards them.  I stand in horror.  Then she did something, well unexpected to say the least.  She leaped off Redeyes snout into the tree!     But she didn't make it out completely free, the spear cut her ear.  I winced.  Then I got my senses together and yelled for Wilfred.  "Come on she needs backup now!!"  We sprinted head on.  The wolves were still chasing her down through the tree.  But she was running out of space!  I saw her leap through the tree down and keep running, but towards what?  There was a tunnel entrance and she was looking straight at it.  With a sinking heart I realized that she wound never make it.  She stuck fast in the entrance with wolves closing in all around her to finish her off.  I heard her whisper "Goodbye Picket" with a single tear shed from her eye.  Then Wilfred came.  He got there before I did, he's got longer legs than mine.  He jammed his foot on her shoulder, knocking her out as well as pushing her to safety.  With a tight squeeze I slid into the cave.
