I had always heard of him, Captain Jack Harkness. My mom said he was an old friend. A dangerous old friend, but he made her life more interesting. The last time she saw him was on my second birthday. After that he just vanished.
My mother used to work for this organization named Torchwood. She never told me what she and Torchwood did, but she said that one day I would find out. She always would give me warnings for when I am older, like to wait for Torchwood before getting married. I don't blame her for warning me of that. She said her and dad split because of Torchwood.
Now I am sitting here at her funeral. She lived to be 54. No one could explain her death, but I think Torchwood has something to do with it, and I am going to find him, Captain Jack Harkness.
