"Honey! Are you all packed?"
Melissa Scott is Madeline's mother, who, I gotta say, has a very loud voice.
Her voice echoes off the walls as Madeline finishes zipping up her suitcase, letting out a wavy such as she looks around the room she's had for so many years.
"Yeah, Mom, I'll be right down!" She heaves, setting her bag down on the floor, walking around the room. She smiles at the had prints on the wall, first starting when she was a baby. It goes up, each year on the sixteenth of April she dips her hands in matte black paint and puts her hand prints on the wall. It's a growing up tradition in the Scott family to do so, starting with Moose, Madeline's older brother, then her, and finally to Matthew, her younger brother. Unfortunately for her, she was a middle child raised in between two brothers. She had to admit though, it did toughen her up a bit.
Passing the hand prints, she makes her way to her calendars, there are two there. One 5 Seconds of Summer one, and a One Direction one, since she's a massive fangirl. On both calendars there were x marks, leading up to a circle on that day's date, the 17th of September. Today would be the day she moves into her college dorm to start school in less than a week.
Taking the blue sharpie off the edge of the calendar, she marked an x on both of the days, feeling satisfied that she's finally going to college and starting her own independent life.
She quickly unpinned the calendars and put them into her backpack that she hadn't used for years.
Finally, she made it to her balcony. This was her favorite place to go, whether she was happy, sad, excited, or just not really feeling at all. The nature surrounding her house and window calmed her, especially the stars at night. She even has a favorite star, Beetlejuice. It's in the constellation of Orion, and she absolutely loved it.
Taking one last glance out of the balcony, Madeline headed back into her old bedroom, grabbed her bags, and made her way downstairs. All of her boxes and other bags had already been taken to her car, loaded into the trunk.
"Alright, I'm ready to go." She said as she stepped off of the last step into the hallway. Fortunately, she had inherited the loud voice from her mom's side of the family, so her mom heard her from in the kitchen.
Wiping off her hands with a cloth, Melissa Scott made her way into the hallway, and looked up at her daughter. She sighed heavily before wrapping her in her arms.
"Why did you have to grow up so fast, Maddie? It seemed like only last week when we were in the hospital with you just popping out of my vagina."
"Mom, seriously, so uncalled for." Maddie rolled her eyes, but her hugged her mom back anyway, there weren't many moments like this, so she might as well enjoy it.
"Well it's true! Your father practically delivered you because of how fast you came out. He had your head in his hands whe the doctor finally got in there to deliver you. I swear, he should've been fired." She trailed off, deep in though about the day that happened over 19 years ago.
"Yeah, yeah. I've heard the story hundreds of times." She chuckles, finally letting go of her mom.
"Oh, look at the time! You best be off soon or you won't be able to unpack!" Her mom started, sounding a lot like Mr. Moseby off of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
"Alright, just call me if you ever need help, okay? Mom, I'm serious. I'm only a short while away." Maddie worriedly asked. Ever since her mom had the stroke a couple months back, she hadn't been doing too great.
"Maddie, sweetie, I'll be fine. Honestly. Stop worrying so much, I'm a grown woman! I can take care of myself!"
"But just in case, call me. Okay? Promise that you will."
"Alright, fine, I promise." She didn't sound too convincing, but Madeline let it slide anyway. They pulled in for one last hug, already out by the car. Maddie put her suitcase and backpack into the car buckling in her bag just in case. She didn't want those calendars ruined.
After climbing into her car and buckling her self up, she rolled down the window, calling out a goodbye to her mom, and finally driving away.
Stopping at a stop sign, she hooked up her phone to the AUX cord and pressing shuffle on her Spotify playlist. She could not, at all, handle silence for the next three hours.
As soon as she hit shuffle, Down by Blink 182 came on. She smirked to herself, thinking of what a great taste of music she has, and then immediately starting to jam out to the song.
Even when she's listening to music though, she can't help the little flurry in her stomach from nerves. After all, she was starting as a freshman in college in five days, moving into her dorm today, and also meeting her new roommate. All she hopes is that's it's not a stuck up bitch. She really couldn't handle that all year.
After a while, she just let the music take over her mind, singing along quite horribly, while driving to NYU, the school she'll be spending the next four years at.

Anyway, so yeah that was the first chapter. If you see any typos, don't be a bitch about it, just say nicely that there's a mistake. Hopefully there isn't too many, because quite frankly, I'm a little bit if a grammar Nazi so I like my work to be grammatically correct. Wow that was a big word. Five freaking syllables. That's a big word to use during summer. Well, actually I start school back in like, 5 days, so yeah. Holy shit I just wrote over a thousand words. Okay, now I'm gonna go and maybe sleep since it's 4:12 am. I may just read a Calum fanfic. Or what's left of the one I'm reading at least. So yeah, I'm gonna go do that. I love Mikey. Bye.
P.S. make sure to vomment and whatever. (Vote and comment)
