PROLOGUE

"You all can't catch me!" Logan shouted running around the grass fields with his copper brown hair frolicking around. For a kid, a daily norm is to play around, not having a single care in the world. All the kids from the pre-school were playing around at the open grass field right in front of their school during recess.

Being a kid, Logan had no clue as to whatever danger lies ahead when he steps off the side-walk and goes onto the road. And as always, if you don't care about your own road safety, the chances of an accident is bound to happen anytime. "Watch out!" A small, shrilly voice rang across the grass field as a tumbling brown-haired girl pushed Logan away from an incoming truck that was about to hit Logan any second if it wasn't for the girl.

Logan was at a lost for words as he stared at the speeding truck that past right in front of him - the same truck that might've hit him and cost him his life. "Come on." The girl urged, pulling Logan's right arm so that they can get off of the danger zone. "You..You saved me." Logan stuttered on his words, slowly moving his stare at the road to the mysterious girl that saved him. "Yup, I saved you."

"What.. What's your name? My name is Logan." Logan sniffled, rubbing his mucus onto the sleeve of his shirt. "Selena." Selena beamed, showing the gap in her teeth where both of her front tooth once was. "Ce-Ce.. Lina." The copper-brown haired boy had difficulties trying to pronounce, our dear, Selena's name due to his age and his inability to capture information quickly.

"Se-Le-Na." The girl slowly pronounced her name so that the boy can catch it easier. However, it was no use. The boy still had difficulty to pronounce her name after numerous tries. Giving up, Logan found a new nickname for her. "Lena." He gave a shy smile, looking at Selena for her approval for his new nickname for her. Selena gave a frantic nod, stretching out her hand to commence their awaiting friendship. Without any hesitation, Logan quickly grabbed the whole of her hand and shooked it vigorously, thanking his saviour and new friend.

"You..You are bleeding, Lena." Logan pointed at the blood that was trickling down Selena's leg. Selena slowly lifted up her skirt to see what was the caused of the blood. "It's just a cut." Selena gave a reassuring smile, helping Logan to get up onto his feet. "Thank you, Lena." Logan gave her a tight hug to show his gratitude.

ONE YEAR LATER

Their friendship was truly one of a kind -- they were inseperable. They went everywhere together, played together with each other and were never ever out of each other's sights unless they went home. Shortly after the incident, they've became the best of friends that no other pair can compare. However, with every up, there must be a down.

"Lena, I have something for you." Logan pulled out a necklace with an 'S' on it.

"Aww, Loggie," Selena sniffled, "You don't have to." Taking the necklace, she turned it around in her small and chubby hand.

"It's to remember me by," Logan smiled shyly and blushed.

"Do you really need to go, Loggie?" Tears trickled down Selena's face while she gripped onto the necklace tightly. The thought of her best friend leaving was just too heartbreaking for her to experience at such a young age. She can barely handle it whenever they say good-bye for the day when they were about to go their separate ways to go home, how can she even handle saying a true good-bye to Logan?

"Yes, Lena." The answers Logan gave was short and cold, leaving no room for further explanation and emotions to show. "Please don't leave me, Loggie." Selena burst out into tears, giving her best-friend the tightest and biggest hug she can ever give to someone. The mess in Logan's head was huge and he was not one for human emotions. Unable to give comfort to Selena, he began crying with her while they both held onto each other as though their lives depended on it.
