Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?My stretch marks, my weight deceive,
And the truth society makes me believe
That thin is beautiful, fat is ugly,
Anorexic is disgusting, bulimic is unsightly.Cheekbones are flawless
But cheeks are useless?But.
I did not come into this world,
With a barcode labelled on me,
Saying: "Oh Thankyou for buying me."
For I did not come into this world
To be seen as a product and
Not a person. For my body is just my body.
Not the toy of somebody
Not a sight for men
Not a sight for anybody.Because my attire is mortal
And my soul is not.
Because my heart is immortal
And can never rot.For I am not the raindrops that
Fall on your window.
For I am the whirlwind that
Falters for no one.I did not come into this world
As a pool to swim in.
I am the wild ocean on windy days
I am the light that shatters all darkness
So why is my body for sin,
And my heart seen in haze? For my body is just my body.
For my soul is just my soul.
For my heart is just my heart.
But society will take away that goal.Oh society! Nice to meet you.
You wicked fool!
She drowned in the tears of your pool
Because illusions are what you portray
And the asinine perfect you will never betray. But I am human.
You are human.
And beauty is a soul hidden away
Because it's what matters on the inside
That sees your dismay. So you, the amazing you
Will make it through
Insults, taunts, and hurt
Because you don't deserve
To be treated like dirt. Thus, you are not your body.
Your body is not you.-
