since that night at 7-eleven, michael hasn't talked to calum at all. well, more like not writing to him since michael didn't talk.. anyway, michael has been in his room for days, not coming out unless he absolutely needs too. karen, michael's mom, knows that michael isn't feeling well. mentally. he's always had these demons in the back of his mind and some days, they're everywhere. and these past days have been those days where michael doesn't want to interact with someone at all, he doesn't even wanna play fifa! but karen knew she had to do something. she had asked luke for calum's number cause she knew that calum was the only one who could talk to him at this moment, she knew how much he meant to michael. after she got his number she called calum right away. he answered after a few rings.

''hello, this is calum speaking, how may i help you?'' a polite calum said and asked.
''calum? this is karen, michael's mom, i hope i'm not calling at a bad time?'' karen asked carefully.
''oh mrs. clifford! no it's okay, i was just gonna make something to eat. is something wrong? is michael okay?'' calum asked worriedly.
''no michael is fine, but his mental state isn't, i'm afraid. i was gonna ask if you could come over and maybe talk to him? i don't think he wanna see anyone else at this moment.'' karen said with a gentle voice.
''o-of course! i'll be there in five! see you then!'' calum said before hanging up.
karen put down the phone and let out a sigh of relief.

after a few minutes there was a knock on the door and calum walked in.
''mrs. clifford?'' calum called out gently. karen walked out to him and pulled him in for a hug, and of course he hugged back.
''thank you for coming, dear.'' she said after pulling away from the hug.
''it's okay, i would do anything for michael.'' he admitted. karen smiled softly.
''you really like him, don't you?'' she smirked and crossed her arms. calum blushed a light shade of pink.
''yeah.. but i don't think he likes me back thou..'' calum answered and look down. karen rubbed his arm.
''he does. i know for a fact that he likes you back.'' karen said, knowingly.
calum frowned a little.
''how do you know for sure?'' calum asked. karen just shrugged and smiled.
''i just know. now, go talk to him. if you manage to get him out of his room, i'll bake you some cookies.'' karen said and walked into the kitchen.
calum did what she said and quietly walked to michael's room and gently knocked before walking in.

''michael?'' calum asked softly and walked into the room and closed the door gently.
michael turned to face him. calum's heart broke a little when he saw michael's blood shot eyes and tear stained cheeks. he had been crying, and he was on the edge of breaking down. calum rushed to him and embraced him. he stroke his back comfortably.
''please don't cry, love.. it breaks me..'' calum said in a hushed voice. he took michael's head into his hands and wiped away the tears rolling down michael's cheeks.
''it's okay baby, i'm here. and i'm not leaving. okay?'' calum said, not aware that he called him baby. michael just nodded and nuzzled his face to calum's neck. calum heard a faint 'thank you'. his eyes grew big and he looked down at michael, surprised. michael looked just as surprised as him. michael said something, he actually said something. after 8 years of not talking, he talked.
''m-michael.. y-you talked.'' calum said, and smiled big. michael smiled too and stood up.
''i-i t-talked..'' michael said lowly. it wasn't loud but they didn't care. all they cared about was that he actually talked. calum hugged him hard.
''this is big, mikey! we need to show your mom!'' calum exclaimed. michael nodded and they went down. they walked into the kitchen where karen was baking cookie and humming on a random song.
''mrs. clifford?'' calum asked carefully, not wanting to scare her. karen turned around and smiled when she saw michael standing next to him. before she could say anything calum talked.
''we have something we wanted to show you. well, michael wanted to show you.'' he said and then looked at michael and nodded. michael nodded back and looked at his mom's confused expression.
''h-hi m-mom..'' michael croaked out. karen's eyes filled upp with tears as she held her hand against her mouth.
''michael..'' was the only thing she could say. she just held him as they both cried on each others shoulder. calum looked at them with a fond expression, not wanting to interrupt their beautiful moment. but suddenly calum was embraced by karen. she whispered multiple thanks yous. calum just hugged back and whispered a hushed you're welcome. they know that it's gonna take sometime for michael to speak properly, but they were happy that he's finally speaking again. after karen pulled away and told them to go to michael's room so she could finish baking.

''michael? can i ask you something?'' calum asked carefully. michael smiled and nodded.
''have you ever had a boyfriend?'' calum asked in a hushed voice. michael let out a small beautiful laugh.
''cal, i-i haven't t-talked since i w-was ten and you a-ask if i-i've ever had a b-boyfriend? c-cute.'' michael said and smiled. calum nodded and looked at his hands.
''i don't like people. i only like you and luke. and my family of course.'' michael said, not realizing that he just told the boy he's been falling in love with for the past months that he likes him.
''you like me?'' calum asked with hope in his eyes. michael couldn't lie to him.
''of course i do.'' michael said and smiled. calum smiled bigger than he was before.
''good, because i like you too.'' calum admitted.
both of them smiled and nothing else was said. nothing needed to be said.
