"So People Magazine has just released the photoshoot of you and Zayn and people are head over heels in love with little Ivan. How is it trying to manage being a world famous pop-star as well as a mother?" Kelly asked as a picture from the shoot popped up on the screen beside us.
"It's an experience that's for sure. The first few weeks home were a little easier because I wasn't really doing much and having just had Ivan, management was okay with laying off any tasks for a bit so I could enjoy this new life. Going back to work though, it's a little challenging but thankfully Zayn and I both have not only really amazing family members but great friends that are always there to help if it comes down to needing a babysitter." I answered smiling at the photo of all three of us together popped up next.
"How is Zayn as a father? I remember having to adjust to the nerves of holding a baby. It's so nerve racking since they're so small." Michael chuckled along with crowd and I nodded in agreement.
"It's a new experience for him but there isn't a more perfect father for Ivan. Zayn is so caring and helpful and watching him interact and spend time with Ivan is absolutely the most precious thing I've ever witnessed. His eyes light up every time he even looks at Ivan and there have actually been times where I'd catch a little tear here and there." I laughed lightly with the crowd as I continued to gush about Zayn and Ivan.
"But yeah at first it was a bit rocky as it is for any new parents but I have the perfect person beside me to go through this journey with and I couldn't be more thankful for that."
"That's such a beautiful thing. Not all new parents have the responsibilities and obligations as you and Zayn. Not only do you both have to be there for your careers but you have to of course be there for your child and make him your priority. I think it's great that you both were able to find a balance between work and home so quickly and so well." Kelly smiled lightly.
"Totally and I think most of that comes from the fact that when we found out about Ivan we had already started adjusting our schedules and careers for the moment that he would be born. Finding the balance was hugely reliant on planning ahead and sticking to that plan. So let's say I have to record something or like today I have an interview set up, Zayn and the boys manage to shift any recording they have to do more to the afternoons and vise versa."
"You make it sound so easy." Michael chuckled and I laughed and shook my head.
"It's definitely far from easy but it's a trial and error thing you know?"
"Indeed it is. Let's talk about little Ivan for bit if you don't mind?" Michael asked and I lightly nodded to allow him to go on.
"Well he's a very adorable baby for starters. I bet everyone he comes in contact with loves him. How was his first photoshoot?"
"It went really well actually. He's definitely more like Zayn personality wise. He's calm 99% of the time so he made it really easy for the stylist and photographer to work with him. Plus he loves the camera so he'll put on the biggest smiles whenever he sees the opportunity." I laughed with the crowd.
"He's so smart already. He's only four, five months right?"
"He'll be five months in three days and I can't even try to begin to believe it. It's so exciting but scary at the same time watching how fast he's growing up and how much he's already learning every day. It's almost unbelievable to me to think that just five months ago he was this small little fragile newborn and now in seven months, which seems long but actually goes by quick, he'll be one year old. Time flies by and it's crazy to think of just how fast everything is moving it definitely makes you appreciate the little moments you know?" Kelly nodded in agreement and we moved on to the subject of my new music and touched on a possible new album before wrapping up with a quick performance of Made In The USA. After the show was over and I had spent some time signing things for the crowds of fans outside of the studio, I had gotten into my car and the driver headed back towards the hotel I was staying at. I wished that the boys had come with but I was only in New York for the weekend and Zayn and the boys had an appearance on Ellen yesterday. I was just glad that soon enough I would be on a flight back to California and back with Ivan and Zayn. I quickly texted Zayn to check in and see what he and Ivan were up to. He said that everything was great and the two were hanging out at Louis' house, preparing for a little grill out for lunch. I smiled as I imagined Ivan and Louis together. Even though Ivan was young, he still knew who was who and he knew Louis was the funny one. Whenever he seen Louis his wide smiles would begin before Louis could make his funny faces or tickle his toes. It was the cutest thing to witness and the best feeling, knowing that he loved the people in his life unconditionally. I decided to nap for a bit before it was time for my flight back home. My alarm woke me a few hours later and with a little help from my bodyguard, we got my bags together and headed to the airport and to my flight home. My excitement to be home again was barely contained as I quickly drug my bags to the front door and unlocked it.
