It was my first day at Columbia. I just moved from New Jersey to New York and I was extremely excited. My heart leapt like a man who's just been told that gods hands are big enough to catch and airplane. Or a whole world. I sat on the wooden bleachers peeling paint off of them as I waited for what I was told would be "morning announcements." It wasn't sunny. It was quite foggy actually, a bit chilly as well, and it was drizzling. Not good camp whether. I was in an all girls group but that only counted biology. I wasn't excited to meet new friends or play sports. To be honest I wanted to stay home all summer. But my parents want me to make new friends so I won't be alone at school.

After morning announcements we all went to our bunk and unpacked our things. We all had individual bedrooms that we share with our 'buddy'. The room I had been assigned is light pink with two full beds and a dresser.

I flopped on the pink bed and huffed. I stared at the plain ceiling. I'm ready for this summer.
