Chapter 1
The colours in my sweatshirt had slowly faded and was slowly turning grey but it was the only thing that made me feel close to my grandmother who had passed away recently I could hear the heavy breathing of John. My abusive stepfather as he slept and the silent sobs and cries of my mother that had been hit multiple times by him. It seems that the only thing that could keep me occupied was a book that was written by my grandmother. The title was 'pink floors' a story about a broken family and the main character. Jenna, a blind girl that lacked love from her family and on top of that had been thrown out on the streets for her parents had no place for her in their cold hearts and couldn't provide for the family that consists of three siblings so they threw Jenna out. Unloved, not cared for and broken. Finding a way out of her misery in the streets and finding the meaning of hope. I was too absorbed in the book that when Aleesya knocked on my bedroom door I jumped in shock. Aleesya was turning seven this year. A young girl with Brown and slightly curly hair and piercing icy blue eyes was standing in front of me. Her small fragile figure started trembling. As I got up to wrap her in a hug she broke down and started sobbing on my chest. She'd always get scared when John snored too loudly and would often come to me as she knew that Isabelle, our mom, couldn't comfort her and be of much help in that state of hers. I couldn't take things here anymore and that's when I decided to run
