I don't actually know how to explain the fear I felt while standing at my new-next door neighbors front door, even though my mum was standing, starring out our window across the street I still had this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I held a welcome basket in my shaky hands, with cookies, coupons, and some of my dad's golfing passes. It wasn't much but it was all we could afford at the moment due to my mum loosing her job of 15 years.

My pale skin slightly turned pink when a boy about my age opened the door. He looked me up and down giving me this tingling feeing, his eyes landed on my leg braces and a frown engulfed his happy features, but soon smiled and  a deep dimple formed on his right cheek. " You are?" I looked up from my shoes, that became quiet interesting when he opened the door. "Cathy." He kept that grin on his face, possibly not sure why a girl who probably looked homeless was standing at his door. "You are?" He offered a hand, which I gladly shook. "Mason." His hand felt as if he had put it near a furnace but I enjoyed the warmth, though he had a bone crushing grip.

Maybe it was just me.

"Here's a welcome basket, I mean, I know its not much but- Here" I shoved it in his arms and he looked down at it like it was the most spectacular thing he had ever seen in his life. "Thank You Cathy." I quirked my lip up for a slight second, but couldn't bring myself to fully smile. "You're welcome Mason." He caught my joke and laughed, it was quite and angelic sound. I looked up at him in awe, but soon glanced down when he recovered from his laughing fit. I heard a woman calling him and he looked down at me with a look of disappointment. "Well Cathy It seems I have to get going I'll talk to you later yea?" I looked up, dazed, he still wanted to talk to me after this? "Y-Yea- Uh- Sure!" He smiled and waved quickly closing the door.

There I was left standing, thinking about the next door neighbor.

That was just the beginning...
